Just what we need CO2 injection

This smacks of Dork ops but the concept is interesting. I wonder how effective the gas injection really is. Basically the knife has a tube inside the blade that allows you to gas someone or something up when they get stabbed. They don't even say what the blade steel is?

HHmmm finally a better product than dork ops. Maybe they will copy it and claim that it will kill hundreds with an air blood groove. Watch the rich kid on the block to get one and kill his buddy by gassing him in the rear.

I thought this was going to be a paraody when I checked your link- these people think their friggin serious. It sounds like a great way to get yourself killed.

This knife is to be used as a defensive weapon only.
I guess it may have the potential to put someone down a whole lot faster than a traditional knife (I'm not a bio-science guy, so I have no way of knowing if their sciencey sounding stuff is true or not), however that still requires putting a weapon, that could easily be used against you in arms reach of your enemy. A person could easily turn it on you, and a animal, well, they could kill very easily if you let them get into knife range.

The goof-off that put their site together says carrying a gun for protection is less acceptable now than before? It seems like he doesn't know present from past.

Being in the medical field I agree that an injection like that could very well kill you; it would all depend on exactly where you got stabbed and injected as well as how much air got into your bloodstream. Compressed air like that will be extremely cold upon release and would freeze the nearby tissues, but it would depend on what tissues were frozen to whether you survived or not. A stab to the heart or lungs would most likely kill you fairly quickly. But I also agree with mp510 that somebody could take it away from you and kill you just as easily. Might be better defense against animals such as a shark or carnivore. Unfortunately that blade doesn't seem big enough to penetrate deep enough into a bear to do maximal damage and stop it from attacking you though it may slow it down. Otherwise it could be a last resort against a bear attack. Interesting idea though.

Looks like the site is down. Hopefully it comes back up. A google search turned up some items but no photos.

I believe it's intended purpose was to be a dive knife with enhanced anti-shark capabilities.

I think that a thick "hypodermic icepick" design would be more practical as well as more cost effective. Safer to have around than a "bang stick" that utilizes a centerfire cartridge.

Wouldn't even think of using this against a bear or an assailant.

On the myspace page it says that the injection would carry an underwater predator to the surface upon injection. If it actually works as advertised (which I doubt it does) it would make am excellant shark defense, provided the shark doesn't attack you too close to the surface.

Very odd idea. It reminds me of the Bond film (was it Live and Let Die?) where the villain (Played by Yaphet Kalo) gets inflated to death. Dunno if this is more than a novelty idea.

My concern is the blade seems to screw to the handle, not a very fail-safe design.

The link is back up. If this thing is used legally for some self defense it is still a PR nightmare and I think most juries would have a hard time with it.

Interesting... Next up will be filling it with N2O so we can laugh to death. And then up comes colored gas so they can 'tag' their target...
Or for people feel guilty stabbing someone else's tires, they can always fill it back up before they leave...

At the very least they're an ethical company...

"WASP Injection Systems, Inc. does not condone the killing of innocent creatures."

But I also agree with mp510 that somebody could take it away from you and kill you just as easily.

In which case no one should carry a knife for self defense - "you" are just too poorly trained to defend yourself against the average street thug - an 18 to 24 year old "child" who's looking for dope money for his habit. And carrying a firearm.

Just hand it over nicely, and thank them for what little damage they do. Yeah, sure.

I don't buy into that anymore than the use of a CO2 injection dive knife. I don't dive - but I don't hear divers going mano a mano with sharks without a spear gun, either. And I don't hear recommendations to dive alone in shark infested waters with nothing but a knife.

The idea that this is being taken seriously by anybody is probably why I'm ready to rotfalmao. Best joke post of the day!
