KA-BAR Knives is proud to announce the acquisition of legendary knife brand Ek Commando Knife.

Ek Commando Knife was created in 1941 by John Ek in Hamden, CT. Ek Commando Knives have served our military on the battlefields of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and countless other hotspots around the globe. Today, Ek continues to be a staple of the United States military.

Ek Commando Knives made by KA-BAR will be available for purchase in 2015.

Bob had informed me of this joyous news...will there be any changes to what I currently expect from EK? Same options etc?

Oh hell yeah! This is most interesting news. Congratulations, in your hands the classic EK knives could come to life again.

I still have my model 5 combat bowie it's my go to outside knife for around the yard. This is good news, maybe I can retire mine now... Nah, I'm just gonna keep on using it, I'll have get one for the tractor now...

Best news I've heard in a while!
I'm looking forward to owning several for myself and stocking them for sale in my shop!

Awesome! I hope something could be done to make them much more affordable whilst maintaining the importance of having it made proudly in the USofA. Commemoratives and wall hangers are great but I truly expect great things to come especially in terms of options for real world usage; covering - sheath carry, handle materials and blade finishings. Kabar has the power to make it happen.

Always hoped that KA-BAR would come out w/ an "EK model 5" pattern knife like the one I have.

...and now KA-BAR owns'em.

Sweet! Who'd-a-thunk.

That is really cool news. I like a lot of their designs and I am sure Kabar will execute them well and still make them affordable.

Never heard of 'em, but just looking them up now they have some great designs. Ever since Spartan and Les George started up their V14 collab, I've been fighting the urge to get that kind of dagger (which I so very much do not need). A KABAR one will be impossible to resist, tell ya right now.

This is really exciting news. I can't wait to see what becomes available in 2015.

I miss my model 5 -- good to know the wait won't be too long until I can replace it!

Is it wrong to say this "bones me up"??? ;) Please do them in 440C, American made, the way they should be
. Bring them back to the classy, no-nonsense knife name they were...even in the 90's.
