Have had my mule folder for quite a good while now and all of a sudden it started being more difficult to open and close. Have cleaned and oiled and cleaned but still takes way more effort to operate than it used to. Anyone else had this issue or heard of it? And if so suggestions on how to repair it?

Decided to remove the pivot screw and see if something was not lined up correctly and there were two plastic shim washers that had become worn and were binding against the blade as it was operated. The fix for me was to discard those and then reassemble the knife. Lock up is still as tight as ever and the blade is significantly easier to open but still tight enough to not open without a good amount of effort

You could call Kabar customer service and see if you can still get replacement washers. They put them in there for a reason, whatever the reason might be.

Have emailed them about it. Thanks for suggesting it I don't know why I didn't think of it lol. But only purpose I see for them is keeping the blade from rubbing the frame when it pivots. Don't know what the long term effect will be from having them removed would be

Contacted ka-bar by phone and was told that the long term effects would not be side to side play in the blade but front to back. The pivot pin will not allow front to back play imho due to the flat spot on the pin preventing it from going into the frame except for one way. The other down side they gave me was that dirt could build up in between the blade and the frame and cause the action to stick. My thought for that is this is the problem I had with the dang teflon washers that started my issue.
