Just decided to put up some information about KA-BAR's fixed blade tantos.

The only other one I know of is the Ka-Bar/ Mil-spec Mokey MSM-001.

For as awful and tactilol as it looks..... I kind of like it.

I have only seen 3 on fleabay in the last 2 years. Looks just like the 1245, just no serrations. :D I didn't realize just how seldom they would show up. The stacked leather versions, the 1264 and 1265 are almost as rare. I've only seen 2 1265s and 1 1264 in the last 18 months.

i have seen this when it was just introduced, at some Shot Show few years ago, i believe.
But, since i wasn't really interested in this i forget it completely.
However, i shouldn't put this up into my original listing anyway, because it's more Mil-spec than it is KA-BAR.
But i must agree it looks kind-a-cool.

I've always liked the TDI Law Enforcement knives for self defense. But I really like that 5054! It's the right size for legal carry here and looks like it would be very effective.

 
I have the 1245, the 1264 and the 5055 shorty. The 1245 is a monster. I remember being caught not being ready for how big it is when I first opened the box. I cut down 2 small trees with it with the factory edge you can see some wear in the coating from doing that. It barely ever comes out of its plastic sheath nowadays. I tried sharpening it but it was the first time I had ever tried to sharpen a tanto. One side is very sharp the other is still just factory sharp even after much effort.

The 1264 is one of the most gorgeous bad ass tanto knives I have ever seen. I had been looking for one for a couple of years when I stumbled across a NIB example for sale and bought it immediately. It is stone cold perfect. I dont use it for anything at all I just enjoy looking at the thing. I do not understand why the 1264 went out of production its so damn good! The grind is pretty different from the 1245 and so is the black coating. The coating on the 1264 is not as thick and if held at certain angles looks gun metal blue.

The 5055 was one of my first fixed blades. I used it quite a bit at first. The shorty fixed blade Ka Bar's do not have enough handle on them. I cannot get my whole hand around the handle at all and I have average sized hands. Still I used it and eventually sharpened it. It was much easier to sharpen than the 1245 and came out pretty well on both sides. Still it wasnt long before I got my first full sized Fighting Knife and a couple Buck 119's which sent the 5055 to the storage drawer lol

Actually there was a Large TDI model 1484 which was without serrations, but it was discontinued.

Can anyone tell me why the 1265 - Black Tanto -7" 1095CV, combo edge, leather handle, kydex sheath, from 2009 is getting hard to find?

1245 - I picked her up with a former boss of mine with part of my paycheck while I was bumming around at a surplus store years ago new in the box. That was way back when I worked a tree service job. Memories. Still one of my favorite Kabars.

Just scored a BNIB 1265 tonight to go with my LNIB 1264! HA! It is shipping to me today! Hope the weather is good so I can get some pics of my 1264 up
 
Wow man, I have a soft spot for tantos esp this one. Just couldn't pull the trigger tho, way too expensive for my blood. I'd pay a little more for a custom from a few folks around here.
