I have in the last 6 months acquired 3 Kabar 1026 knives and have become quite fond of the usefulness of these small knives, I noticed on 2 of the 3 there are 3 pins on the side opposite the shield side of the knife where the other one has only one. Does any one have any ideas why the one is different ?

I am by no means an expert on the late Kabar knives but I think maybe the one with one pin is a Swinden key construction knife made on contract for Kabar by Schrade. By the time Kabar (and I am not referring to KA-BAR) started having model numbers on knives they were not actually making knives but were having most of their knives made for them by others, much as they do today.
