Maybe I posted in the wrong forum....have a 13.25 inch Kabar with "BOWiE" engraved into blade.Looks like brass accents and 5 small brass rivets per side of Stag handle...full tang. Was given to me by my father who just passed so I pulled er out for memories....I use a ton of cutlery in the kitchen..but I am clueless about this particular knife.....given to me as a kid(pushing 50)now..very simple sheath and could not find a stamp/#...anything.....only KABAR and BOWiE.Any suggestions on what I have before I post pics?Thanx

I had one when I was in the Army. Full tang, small rivets and script J Bowie engraved. A British paratrooper in 2nd Para traded me out of it. I have no idea what the model number is, but it was a pretty nice bowie. I think I got mine at Ft. Knox, maybe at the Cav Store.

If it was from 50's probably something like this

If from 80's probably like this Modeled after a 1210 this one being a Collector club 8001

Brings tears to my eyes.....This is the 1st time I have ever seen another.......the lower one.My handle has no sheen and the sheath is almost the same for one exception....I have no emblem on my sheath...nothing embossed or stamped(correction!!!!,put my reading glasses on a found a small embossed emblem at the tip of the sheath..a small oval one but cannot read anything. The 1st time I was shown my "future" knife was in 1974 or 75......not the 80's.Nut "O" Knives...what can you tell me about her....is she rare?Mass produced to go with a racoon tailed hat at a tourist trap?Or was this something that Kabar was proud of....I just showed my 10 year old this post and off course he had to pull it out ....he loves this blade. One concern....I am no guru....love history but lean toward German SS 1939-1945...So I am a novice here....back in the day...when used for fighting, hunting and survival....would she not have a bleeder running through the blade?Or was that more common with the uppercrust man of that time and not the real man living off the land?Anything you can tell me will be well received by my son and I....THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME...Will post pics of mine soon...now clean that blade soldier!!!!!lol..I see those smudges....I got spanked for not having her Gleam.....just buried my father with military honors last Sunday....You have hit a nerve with this post...thank you. Duke

You are welcome DukusErectus and I am sorry for your loss. I also lost my cousin USN World War II 5 months ago, and was handed down his collection of knives. Your kabar is probably a 1210 with a stag handle but pictures will tell. You have a treasure there not monetary but even better a Knife that you got from your Dad and one you can hand down to your Son. Bless your Dad,my cousin,Father,Uncle's and all Military both past and Present for their service and God bless us All.

I know its been awhile since you posted--I personally purchase one exactly like your in 1964 for $25.(3rd from top)
I was maybe 16 years old and it was to be a gift--I to got it years later.
Right now its worth about $250. -pretty rare knife.
I don't have the original brochure but I do remember that Kabar claims you can cut a 16 penny nail with it and not ding the blade--I tried it and its true--you can not beat Kabar steel

If there is a model number on the blade it is a newer knife, they re-introduced them in 1986. Sandman, if you can get a deuce and a half for your 1960s one you'd be way ahead of the game. They sell on ebay for less than $150, and I have several of the early ones and get no takers at knife shows at $150.

It might not be the genuine article, but it looks like a little modification to the current production heavy bowie could yield a reasonable facsimile.
