Hello All!

I am a minor, I live in Topeka, Kansas. I'm not sure about knife laws here, so I have come to ask you guys!

What is the legal size for a folding knife for EDC use? Are they aloud to lock? Can they have serrations? Can they be spring accessed? Right now I carry the SOG Flash II, Leatherman Skeletool, and the Victorinox Trekker (I only carry one of these at a time, not all at once.). Are these legal to carry?

Just to let you guys know, I am home-school. So my knives aren't going into a school, or other places such as malls.

Thank you!

~Ben

i can tell you in general the leatherman and victorinox are legal for carry but the sog flash 2 im not too sure about(i don't know the definition of switchblade in kansas) and if the blade length is under i think is 3.5 in. your okay ( i am not a lawyer and this is not legal advise and i would double chech with local laws and state lawyers from a lawyer)

Thank you! I appreciative your help and input. I believe that the Kansas definition of a switch blade is anything that has a spring. So maybe it's not a good idea on carrying it! Haha, thanks again.

Summary: The legal size of a knife for concealed carry is a blade of 4 inches or less. Switchblades are defined has having an actuator in the handle, thus Assisted Openers like the Flash II do not qualify as switchblades. This is a well known and well established loophole to existing switchblade law.

Larger folders and fixed blades may be carried openly in plain sight so long as there is no intent to use as a weapon against another person.
