I am interested in this stuff. Do you have more info such as a link to the sight? Sounds good.

:)i bought it at a heating & a/c supply store called folcarelli's in altoona pa. it's made at lynn manufacturing in lynn ma. 15 marion st. lynn ma 01905 tel:781-593-2561 its actually a replacement chamber kit. its called a "wet blanket kit" it is actually wet.directions say line chamber press seams make no seam in line of direct flame. fire burner 3 minuets on 3 minuets off for a total of 15 min. when first fired a small amount of smoke and a slight odor may be noticed this "burn off"is normal condition caused by some of the binder and evaporation of water which is quickly carried off with other products of combustion. the kit cost 37.$ but there is a big roll it was the only kind of ceramic mat/blanket they had in stock. i was told upon firing it would get hard. i fired it and it got stiff. is that the way the kaowool acts when the other types are used?i made a forge from a 3lb coffee can with the torch(burnsamatic jh mapp gas) in theside almost at the top 3/4 of the way back pointing so the flame follows the contours of the can. it only heats the back of the forge. about 2 in. of steel, do i need another torch/burner or is the nozzle wrong?

Should work just fine as long as it's at least an inch thick. The "wet" part is most likely simply a solution of Sodium Silicate (a.k.a waterglass or liquid glass). Basically acts as a fire resistant rigidizer for the Kaowool to help it hold its shape. Don't know why more folks don't use it as it can be had for about $10 per gallon versus $10/pint for so called name brand rigidizer. Works really nicely to also bind up some of the ceramic fibers that can be liberated by the turbulence in the chamber. It would still be a good idea to give your chamber a coat of ITC or Satanite.
Best of luck on your project.

it seems to be about3/4 in. i have the rear,&sides covered with 1 layer and about 2.5 in. on bottom to make it flat. but im gonna put another layer on. how close to the burner input should i put it. also i dont know what itc or satanite is let alone if i need to use it. what does it do? the chemicals in the wool smoked a good bit when fired but quit after 10 min or so. no it has a dry look and is stiff kind of like a loose fiber board. i dont know if i need further "treatments" or if its ok lise it is :) :) willy.
