Hey, Fellas. I just finished hanging and cleaning this one up tonight. Tomorrow it's going in the mail. I donated this to an auction on BCUSA to benefit the family of a member who's four year old boy was recently diagnosed with cancer. It hit home with me, because I have a four year old boy. The boy's name is Dashiell. Say a prayer for him. This particular auction also had some other sweet items like knives and such, and it raised $500. Here's the axe, it's quite cool if I do say so myself.

very nice memphis...!

is that a 4 pounder? it sure looks like it from the pics...

No, sir. I didn't weigh it, but it's a light 3.5 or maybe just 3. Thanks!

ETA: It's much smaller in your hands than it looks in the pics!!!

That's a beauty. Someone may re-hang her in decades to come. When they do they'll see your initials and date and wonder...'who was this Good ol boy'.
Good on yer Mate.

regards...Frank

Thanks, Frank. "Good ol boy" is something I only aspire to. God willing, one day I'll achieve it, in all it's gray-haired glory and wisdom.

A real beaut M3mphis. Will definitely keep Deshiell in my prayers. Doctors said I wouldn't make it through the day on Feb. 15, 1972. However, God had different plans for me.

Nice work for an awesome cause... I have a 4 yr and a 2 yr old, both little girls, and it kills me to see kids in any sort of bad situation... Good job M3mphis.

Hey M3mphis, did you make that haft or is it store bought and extensively sanded down? I always like how your pcs have a straight flow. Without the fat humps @ the base of the head...

Thanks, Fellas!

I guess I should mention that I have a two year old girl, too. I didn't mean to leave her out!

Hey Broady, I bought that handle at True Value. I remove the shoulders with a spoke shave. I hardly use a rasp of anything else anymore for hanging other than a spoke shave, chisel, and sandpaper. I usually thin out my handles with the spoke shave too. I didn't really thin this one because I don't know how the guy would like that.

Thanks!

I know it has been said but I'll repeat it. Thats a very nice axe for a very worthy cause. Its not everyday we have the opportunity to do something special like that for someone else and it seems too often in todays society we look the other way and keep on walking, ignorant of the trials around us.

To quote Frank, "Good on Yer"

I second (or however many) all of the sentiments above. It's a horrible thing that we occasionally have cause to set up fundraisers like these. But contributions like yours are beautiful testaments to the nature of good willed people. And it's that good will that really makes a lasting difference in a recipients life. Good wishes to you all, and a great piece, M3mphis!

M3mphis
This is very noble of you.
Brionic is a cool cat from the few times I interacted with him over there. Surely it is appreciated by him and his family.
Thats good karma man!

Thanks for the kind words, Everyone. It's only a small contribution, but I hope it blesses them in some way. If you've ever looked at my info, you might see that my occupation is listed as "business owner." Well, we work with kids with disabilities and chronic illnesses. I only work in the office, but some days I leave with a very heavy heart. I can only imagine what brionic and his family are going through. All I can say is that if you are ever in a similar situation, reach out for help and support. There's no shame in that, and you need to do it. Also if someone in your circle goes through something like that, don't be afraid to reach out to them.

Anyway, the axe pictured above looks to me like a thoroughbred. If I were keeping it, I think I'd call it Seabiscuit. :)

Great cause and awesome workmanship. Props to you for the work you do. There's no such thing as a small contribution. Everything helps. Thank you sir for your work.

You have done a great work on that! My respect! Very nice head shape. Must be a real great user!

Thank you for sharing!

Kind regards
Andi
