Kentucky seems pretty much ok with anything. Does anyone have or know the specifics of Kentucky law on knives?

Hi,

You can google: kentucky deadly weapon laws
You can also google for kentucky knife laws.
and read all day and then some probably.

I did read that some knives such as batons, knuckles, and throwing stars
can only be carried if you have a CDWL.

Thanks . I took my class years ago when they first started it. I remember they had a guy in a tux and bowtie showing you swords and throwing stars saying as long as you take this class you can carry these. Lol
Thanks

The way I read the laws said that in the end it was up to the arresting officers discretion as to whether it a deadly weapon or a tool.
In the end I think it depends on your circumstances.

Like a lot of states, open carry is legal. Concealed carry is a tricky matter. The law is for the most part rather discretionary. A famous case call White v. Commonwealth in 2004 was an interesting test case were a guy had 9 different knives in his car within reach, and the court felt that 3 of them counted as weapons. These "illegal" knives were a butterfly knife, a locking "tactical knife" with a thumb stud, and a fixed blade "tactical knife" with a 7 inch blade.

Of course, if you get a concealed weapon permit you are pretty much in the clear for anything.

Here's the law, reduced for brevity sake:
