Hey Guys, Samantha at CampingSurvial.com here, I was looking into purchasing this Kershaw 1920 Select Fire Multi-Function folding knife from here at http://https://www.campingsurvival.com/used-knives.html...For the work that I do here, this knife would be great! The fact that it was built to be a knife-focused multi-tool, unlike majority of other multi-tools with a plethora of tools. 98% of the time I'm using my knife but other times a screwdriver of sort comes in handy! As well as the belt clip for easy access. Would just love to hear you guys' opinions on this knife!

Have a great day all!

Hi Samantha the Kershaw Select Fire is a great knife focused multi tool. I find I carry and use it more often then my Leatherman or Sog multi's. It carries like any edc knife which I think is its strong suit. My Leathermans and Sog are just to heavy or bulky to carry all day. I still always have one with me in my bag though. I find that when I do need use of a multi tool 9 times out of 10 its for a screwdriver which makes the Select Fire the logical edc multi for my needs. One last thing before I go. The fold out screwdriver is extremely strong which was a pleasant surprise! You can really put alot of torx on it more than you think you'd be able to. All around I think it's a fantastic tool and highly recommended it.

For regular duty work, the select fire is awesome. As you mentioned, not every one needs a pair of pliers or other tools, so this is a nice compromise to having a knife and some drivers easily accessible.

It really isn't that noticeable in the pocket, steel is decent and easy to sharpen. And if you lose the included bits, you can just replace them with any 1/4" bits from any home center. In fact, it comes with 4 bits, (2) Phillips and (2) flat so you can mix and match the bits to your liking if you already have some handy.

I definitely think you should go ahead and get it, you'll be very happy with it.

I don't own one, but my .02 cents is: Cool idea but not for me for a few reasons (I hate thumb studs to start)

When I want to carry a multitool without pliers it's a Victorinox Trekker. Reason being is it's a lighter tool, with more tools to use, and more functionality.

I've owned one and given two away as gifts. It works great and the best part is its no different than carrying any other knife. It's a G&G Hawk design to boot! Also I agree with metsfan, it's customisable for what you need.

I got mine about 5 years ago as an impulse buy for 10$ at Walmart, because I thought the built in bit driver was cool. Now I really wish I had gotten the crown instead.
The ergonomics are horrible, I had to make sure to really flick it open for it to engage properly ( no problem if you're a flicker or flipper ), the bead blasted finish let the blade easily get peppered in rust spots, I hated the combo edge, and honestly I never even used the bit driver the whole month I carried it as I have a leatherman fuse on my side at all times. I have since given it to my cousin to put in his tackle box.
It was definitely worth the 10$ I had payed for mine, but there's no way I would ever pay 35$ for it.
If you want a knife with a screwdriver on it, get a Victorinox tinker which costs less, has more tools , and is 10x better in every way

I usually need a multi with pliers so I carry my ST 300, but I have a Select Fire and really like it. Blade takes a very nice edge. The bit driver is very nice, sturdy and nice length. I have a number of plastic strips loaded with 1/4" bits so the driver is super handy for me. I really like pairing the SF with a belt pouch loaded with a ST 300, a Crunch, and a small pry bar (and the bit strips). Lets me tackle a pretty wide range of issues in a very small package. From your description of your needs in the warehouse I think you would the SF very handy. Try one and see and let us know what you think.

after many years and so many option tried and handled, these are my three favorite pics (Left to Right) for
A. Very nice knife and pliers for around the house/light duty
B. Great knife and drivers when I don't need pliers
C. In addition to a dedicated knife, for work/tough duties

Is this an ad in GKD?

It does feel that way. Take out the link and the business blurb and it wouldn't.

I prefer a dedicated knife and MT. The most used thing on my MT is the pliers so one with out those would not work for me. I always have a Juice CS4 on my belt and a folder in my pocket (plus my other EDC junk).

I'm kind of in agreement here. I'm sure the kershaw is a fine knife, but I'd rather just carry a proper multitool unless in my position I only ever have need for the driver.

I would think that if you need that for work, your boss just might give it to you...

And if I am using a driver literally all the time I would carry a dedicated screwdriver, one with bits in the handle, and a dedicated folder. But if this thing works for the OP then why not go with it? Just not what I would do but that doesn't mean it is the right way to go about it....

I think the Select Fire is OK, it does work in a pinch. The bit driver folds on me if I'm not careful, and I don't really like the bit carriers. I carry a Leatherman Fuse in a belt pouch. I can cut wires, I have pliers and screwdrivers, small scissors, and a backup knife.

The leatherman fuse is probably the most underrated leatherman model, and leatherman was stupid to discontinue it. I've carried one in its original leather sheath every single day for the last 4+ years. I don't carry it as a knife though and prefer a dedicated knife.
BTW I have a little bit adaptor that happens to fit over the Philips screwdriver which has a square shank. Some people may not want to carry multiple things, but a leatherman with bits even if not paired with a dedicated knife ( they have one handed versions ) is way better than the kershaw select fire.
Honestly I'd Probably never buy another select fire even if it was 5$.
