Went to Wal-Mart today because it is one of the bigger knife places in my town. I have been wanting to get another blur so, I was happy to see they were on sale for 50 bucks. When I got out to the car and opened the box I was a little disappointed. The heavy flat black blade coating I remember from my old blur was not there...it's the blackwashed model. Anyone else have this finish on any Kershaws? Like it, hate it? I hope it will grow on me....

I don't have a blackwashed Kershaw, but I do have a ZT 0801 that is, and I really like it. However, I could see why you might be disappointed if you wanted the traditional black DLC coating. I assume this was in an actual box rather than clamshell/blister pack? If so, I'd have to think that Wal-Mart would give you a refund.

I don't really care for it, I prefer fully black or fully stonewashed. I'd rather put the scratches on myself through use but it seems to be very popular and selling well.

I have an Elmax Blur with blackwash and a cheapo blackwash kershaw. Can't say I've used either enough to give an opinion on its durability but I do think its great looking. Some knives I like it better on than others. I'd take a DLC coated zt0550 over the blackwash any day.

I have several blackwashed knives and I prefer the blackwash to the full on black. It looks more interesting, to me.

I've had a few blackwashed Kershaws and ZTs. I love how that finish looks. It's nice and worn in for ya.

It came in a box, but, I won't be taking it back. If it holds up as well as my other blur did, it will have a welcomed place in my pocket. After playing with it some, the blackwash isn't that bad. But, I would prefer to scratch up my own knife, but, it's ok.

They put the DLC coated blades into a tumbler just like they do with the stonewashed blades. It makes for an awesome working finish. I do like it on some models but I also like making my DLC blades "blackwashed" from use too.

So all they do is tumble it! Interesting. If I tumble something, like pistol cases, I want them to come out looking like diamonds.

I love the blackwash finish. Although I do prefer a stonewash finish simply because I'm not a huge fan of black blades

I have an Elmax Brown Blur with blackwash and like it..first assisted opening knife and first Elmax.

Have had excellent service life on several Kershaw knives over fairly long periods of time.

Best.

@Nick21 I also enjoy a bare finish on most of my knives. but, I've found out in the last while that with my edc blades I become ocd about fingerprints other smudges, so, I would rather have a black coated blade for carrying.
