Love the handle design, is it g10 or a different plastic? Doesn't look like g10 to me.

Got to handle one, fires really fricken fast. If i got one I might put some custom scales on it, but i don't hate the handle; just not my personal preference.

he Breakout has a stonewash finished 14C28N drop point blade (plain). The handle is black anodized with a spiderweb style grooves (to provide better gripping power). The Breakout has a sliding safety on the back of the handle. A reversible pocket clip (front or back) is also present.

Specifications:
Overall Length: 7.9''
Length of Blade: 3.5
Weight: 2.6 oz.
Lock/Safety System: Back sliding safety
Blade Edge: Plain
Blade Material: 14C28N
Pocket Clip: Black, Reversible (front or back)
Handle Material: CNC machined aluminum

I'm not a big fan of autos that use the same button to unlock the blade and fire the blade open. I'm afraid of accidentally hitting the button with my thumb and slicing off my fingers.

At least with stilettos, the finger guard releases the blade, not the button. With the Benchmade Axis Lock, it takes a deliberate pull back of the axis lock to release the blade, which is a lot safer. IMO, regular button locks are unsafe. The button on the Breakout doesn't even appear to be recessed.

Tony, there is a safety installed on the Breakout to prevent the above scenario.

I haven't been able to use the one I have here enough to give a decent review.
Lockup is great, speed is good. I didn't think it would be as "grippy" as it is, but the cutouts in the handle work.

I like the name too. :)

I got curious about the lock, because I couldn't really tell anything about it from the pic posted and wondered how it differed from the Rogue.

I don't have any experience with the Breakout, but the Rogue has quickly became my goto knife when odd jobbing around the house and other places an Auto won't cause me to catch flack.

Anyway here's a video that might help you out.

Yeah, but doesn't that add an extra step? You basically need to engage the safety after you fire the blade open to prevent the release button from pressing and causing the blade to accidentally close on your fingers. I'd rather just flick open my Blur and be done with it.

Referencing this post and your earlier one, it doesn't appear an Auto is for you, as most quality push button auto's incorporate a safety.

You may check out the Crossfire mechanism on the Zero Tolerance 0650ST auto to see if that may work. Otherwise, stick with that AO. :)

i just picked up this knife today. It is fantastic.

I honestly see no way you are going to accidentally close this thing on your fingers unless you are REALLY not paying attention

Doesn't the spring keep the blade open in most cases? Even if you unlocked it, it won't move until you put pressure on the spine. At least that's what happens with my autos.

The Breakout is a great knife, light, thin, sweet and very fast. I love the rogue too, but I think this one is a better EDC, because of the size, Kudos !!

I am really loving this knife...reallly...the spring tension it great, the feel in the hand is great...hair shaving sharp out of the box.

Looks like this Pro-Tec

Except that Pro Tec is probably twice as expensive.
I haven't had the chance to handle a Breakout but my Rogue is a lot of fun for around the house when I can't get in trouble for carrying it. If I lived in a more auto friendly state I would probably buy one.
