I recently picked up a NIB ZT0200 from Dave at kershawguy.com, and at the same time I noticed he had the Hinderer designed Cinder in stock, which I was looking forward to checking out.

The Cinder is a tiny keychain knife/bottle opener, but it is big in what it can cut due to the way Rick designed the knife. It is a liner lock, with a detent ball and all -

The knife has teflon washers and feels solid. It took me a few tries to get the one-handed opening going, just because it is very small and I have XL glove sized hands.

I took the knife apart to check it out, and took a few pictures. These are going for 8-10 dollars. Great stocking stuffers or gifts for friends.

I found a little chunk of the tumbling media stuck in a cutout on my liner when I removed the scale.

Dave also threw in a TX-Tool - I like it! Thanks Dave!

The Cinder has a one piece integral backspacer and non-lock side liner -

Tough glass-filled nylon with a good texture.

It probably won't be your highest cost purchase this year, but you might want to try out a Cinder. So far I have used it to open boxes and woodpecker suet cakes. Handy little knife and the three finger grip that Rick designed allows for great leverage - this little guy will surprise you at how much you can do with a 1.4" blade.

That looks pretty practical, never even knew they existed! Will probably grab one. Thanks for sharing!

funky little blade...likely be getting a few to hand out as stocking stuffers this year:-)

Great to use on the keychain. I just purchased a like new ZT0200 and I was going to get the ZT0909 but I don't know now and have been thinking about getting an extra ZT0200.

Dave (kershawguy.com ) has some 200s left - NIB, black blade at a great price. Not many new ones left from a ZT dealer....

Nice overview. Can't beat the price of the Cinder and as small gifts.

How did you like the portable TX-Tool compared to others you have used?

In that size I like my Boker KeyCom. AUS-8 steel and includes a pocket clip, which make it double as a pocket dangler for other tools. I pair mine with a small flashlight, which then doubles as a fob for the knife. No bottle opener, though.

Ive never seen one, thats the coolest little gadget now on my buy list..Thanks for sharing!

I like it - I have a blue box and also a set of Wihas - The TX-Tool has a nice magnetic retention, and it works well as a handle for the bit. The cap is threaded on, and the bits ride loose in the hollow barrel, which causes it to jingle as it is shaken around.

The pocket clip does it's job and looks good doing it - and the whole package is light and easily carried.

A pretty good deal for the money.

I ordered one of these the day they dropped and its been on my keychain ever since. In all honesty I've used the bottle opener a lot more than than blade, but it is a nice option to have in more polite or refined settings. I don't want to temper anyone's expectations, but order one knowing what you are getting. This knife has cheap steel and wont handle a lot of abuse before sharpening is needed. The best part is the low price tag, and that ordering one after another is a viable option.

For me I wanted a bottle opener with a knife, but didn't want all the extra nonsense the comes with a SAK. It fills that role perfectly for me, and if you go in looking for something similar I think you will be pleased with your purchase.
