I have been interested in mabey purchasing the cryo and today I went on http://www.bladehq.com/ and i went in the search box and typed in kershaw cryo and under the kershaw cryo was the kershaw cryo 2!?!?!?! So obviously I clicked on he cryo 2 to see what that was all about...and kershaw is making a cryo 2!!! It is just going to be larger than the original cryo. So instead of buying the first cryo, I'm just going to wait until the cryo 2 comes out because I like the size a lot better.
Here is the link to the knife:

Welcome to BladeForums and to the Kershaw subgroup. Love the enthusiasm. This has been discussed numerous times. All of the details are out there, except when we will see them. I hope soon.

I'm excited for the larger Cryo as well as the original feels just a bit small but I love the design. I really want to stonewash it like I've seen done with the original. I really love a an agressive tumble/stonewash! Should be a project I can finish unlike the pile of blades and wood I have waiting to make handles and all the other unfinished projects I have.

So what about the Cryo appeals to you? Would it be an EDC and what do you currently carry?

The cryo 1 is a good little knife, but I can't think that as the size increases I would want G10 and a lighter handle.

You're not just pulling my leg are you? I'm assuming this will be larger yet than the Cryo 2? I've been away from the forums for awhile, is there a source on this info?
I thought I read there being 3 somewhere but I could be wrong...

Thank you. And I just really like the looks of this knife. And from the reviews I've seen on YouTube it is a good knife for the price. And most likely for edc purposes. I would use the cryo 1 as a secondary edc if I get it(most likely will)and the cryo 2 as a main edc.

I thought Thomas mentioned the Cryo II was coming in the 3rd quarter? They must be really busy with those 0777's because we are almost into the fourth quarter. Oh well...they will come soon enough.

The Cryo has been a very popular piece for us, and it's nice to see the love for the Cryo II. We have a great retaionship with Rick Hinderer, and we continue to work on exciting new projects with him.

However, as of right now there are only the Cryo and Cryo II - no Cryo III. Remember, our new policy is that we don't do sneak peeks or early announcements anymore. The new products for 2013 will be announced at SHOT Show in January.

I understand the need for the new policy, but I would be thrilled to see a Cryo III at about 5.25 inches closed length with a 4 inch blade. The Cryo is an amazing little knife, and the Cryo II can't make it into my hands soon enough.

Wouldn't a Cryo 3 just be a ZT 0550?

Off the top of my head, differences would be
--AO
--assuming the same .5" increase in blade as between the Cryos 1 and 2, the 550 will have a shorter blade
--steel vs g10/ti handles
--country of origin
--no first finger choil on the Cryos
--different steels
--huge price difference

I'd say the 0560 and 0550 are more similar than a Cryo 3 and the 0550 would be.

I wasn't really serious. Good run down of the differences in case anyone else thinks I was though. :p

I was also wanting a Cryo but now that a 3.25" version will be avail, I'll wait. Hope they do some milling to reduce weight

I'd like to see a Cryo II with a G10 scale. There aren't enough stainless framelocks with G10 on the non-lock side. The OD-1 is the only one I can think of that has a Hinderer stabilizer, as well.

If they made the G10 side with no liner except for the SpeedSafe cover plate, that would reduce weight even more.

I agree with you 100% that there are not enough stainless framelocks with G-10 (or FRN for that matter) as the non-locking handle. This is one of the reasons that I love Chad Los Banos's designs from Boker!
