So I have been looking for a new EDC knife after loosing my Benchmade Volli :grumpy:, and the Launch 6 is ticking all of my boxes for knives ( 3.5" or larger blade, assisted or automatic, not a linear lock, hard steel, and no serrations). That being said, I like to look at other options from other manufacturers to see if there is anything better. I was looking into the Benchmade Adamas, but that monster is too thick and heavy. The Benchmade Crooked River also fits into my criteria, but I just don't dig the look.

Anyone know of any other knives other than the ones mentioned that are similar to the Kershaw Launch 6 (light, large blade, assisted or auto, straight edge).

Protech TR-4. One other that I suggest with reservation is the CRKT Fire Spark (if funds are the reason for looking elsewhere - if you look around you can find them for under $50). IMO, the Fire Safe system sucks and keeps it from deploying reliably, BUT if you have a torx screwdriver set and a file and maybe an extra 15 minutes, you can sand off the nub on the linerlock which makes the Fire Safe button work and BINGO it's an assisted opener with a thumbstud. The blade stays in place just fine without it.

This belongs in the auto forum.

Did you read the whole post or just the title before you decided to police the thread?

While I too am no mod, I think it's fine in general as the OP isn't strictly looking for autos.

As to the OP's question: It's not auto or assisted, but it's VERY slick and really wouldn't benefit from a spring; the Freeman 451button lock flipper might be worth looking at. I've handled one and was very impressed. It may be the next purchase I make... assuming I can kick this balisong bug I caught.
