Kershaw Offset Opinions?

I thought the offset would be too big, but I held it recently and it wasn't that bad. Much lighter than I expected.

Now that the Kershaw buzz has shifted to the ZDP Leek, has anyone really used or carried the Offset for a significant amount of time? What are your thoughts?

Maybe compare its durability/comfort/effectiveness to a Spec Bump, which is my current fav.

Thanks!

Jeremy

Hold on tight--it really kicks!

I like it a lot, but it would be better with a G-10 handle. The current handle looks cool, but it is very slick.

The blade shape looks strange, but it is very useful.

I really like the knife, but it could be better with more grippy scales.

I've played with a few before. Very cool, and it's true, the splatter paint does look better in real life, but this thing is HUGE. too big for me.

Handled one yesterday… the grip not much bigger than in Bumps… it's cool, I mean feels metallic…blade is crazy but as been said, well thought of.

But has anyone actually used this knife as an EDC ? Or for any prolonged period? Is it too heavy or bulky to carry around all the time? Throw me a frickin bone here!

I'm curious about the Offest too, I like the blade design.

However, I have no idea what Kershaw was thinking when they did that 1980's splatter paint thing for the handle. That's a mystery for the X-files.

Murky, I think Kershaw might be redoing the Offset with a different Handle (g-10?) and maybe a different steel! :)

I want an Offset, but I am going to wait a while and see what happens. My next knife is going to be the ZDP Cyclone!

Comparing it to the Manix, it's a monster. I've handled it several times and for me it's just too big, too heavy and the handle way too slick to be anything much more than a looker. Interesting design and construction but if I need to carry it in a backpack then I think I'll pass ... :thumbdn:

I have also been interested in buying the Offset and like Murky Depth I am not real crazy about the splatter paint design on the handle. If someone gets confirmed information on Kershaw redoing the handle let me know, because I have been waiting to buy one hoping that they would come out with a different handle, but I really like the balde design.

I would buy an Offset if it had a G-10 handle. :) Titanium would be nice, but VERY expensive! After holding it a few times it doesn't seem too big. I could probably carry it all day, but not every day.

All right, all right, there is a 3-D machined G-10 version of the Offset and it is coming out later in the fall. We are working on texture patterns now. Looking at maybe 500-100 pieces. The steel will stay the same.... for now. Happy?

Of course we're happy! There is no such thing as an unhappy Kershaw Customer!:D

Now go to bed! You're on Vacation!

Jeremy

p.s. I talked to Dawn today about my ZDP Leek that ya'll are resharpening for me. She is awesome! The Shop is in good hands till you return:)

Thank you Thomas I will be looking forward to seeing and buying the new Offset, and I agree with Jeremy there is no such thing as an unhappy Kershaw customer.

ive had one for a couple of months. its big & heavy, its hard to carry all the time. the biggest problem is the pocket clip.works good & is well made & finished, but its huge. it really jumps out like no other one ive seen. very noticable,& may get banged up pretty easily.

personaly i don't care. all i know is that I WANT AN OFFSET!!!!!! im becoming more interested in the g-10 version, but i think the "painted" one is cool. any suggestions on which to get? i have quite large hands (can hold 6 baseballs at 90degrees big) so im sure the size wont be problem.

hey jeremy, tell me if you think that this is a bit much or good idea. serrations on the recurve of the offset? i think it would be cool, but thats me. i suggseted the idea in another thread
