Hey guys I picked up this Offset thinking i would trade it for one of the Blurs I'm missing. After getting the knife now I'm not sure I want to get rid of it. Its like a ZT 03xx handle with a nightmare grind blade. The lock system works great once you get used to it. Fires out fast with the assisted opening and feels great in the hand. I cant figure out if the blade has a coating or if its media blasted or what maybe someone here can tell me. Anyway seems like a great knife would recommend picking one up if you get the chance. Still might consider a trade but would have to be something special.

Blade is DLC coated like the blurs you have.. I love the Offsets but never seem to Hold unto mine haha..

So they did a grey dlc coating? Thats what it feels like but its grey not black. thanks for the info chester

Yes ...

Kershaw Offset Knife that features a 3 3/4" blade made of metal injection molded MIM HIP440C stainless steel. The blade of this Kershaw knife has been Tungsten DLC coated to give it a Matte Gray Finish..

Hey Chester since ZT was started in 2006 and the offset was introduced in 2005 do you suppose its the precursor to ZT knives . It sure looks and feels like one

That knife looks sick !!! I love it. It's called an "Offset" ? What kind of lock exactly ?

Too bad the blade didn't come in a premium stainless like S30V, S35VN or M390. Or does it ?

It just based on a Ken Onion Custom.. Like the Bumps, Shallots, Tyrades etc...but the first ZT was a Ken Onion design with help from Strider the ZT0300

The Offset it ok I guess... Its like an improved ZT0301, I love the stud lock! The G10 version is very nice. Ive been carrying mine almost everyday.

I think the handle more closely resembles the 0200. Big fan of the stud lock too, one of the true ambidextrous locking mechanisms.

That picture gives you a good perspective to the size of the Offset, it's a beast!

I bought an Offset at the warehouse sale last year and its an amazing piece of craftsmanship! I however gave it to my dad because he fell in love with it the second he saw it. Hes not even a knife guy but always loved that knife.

Was the Offset the only blade kershaw made using MIM technology? If so was there problems with them?

OP: I have one of the "splatter paint" models and don't carry it much but I would never part with it. I think if you were to trade it off you would likely regret it.

I think you are correct JWR the more i mess with it the more it appeals to me. Thats why im asking so many stupid questiions lol i want to know more about it.

Is the studlock a Ken onion design?

Yes, he considers it one of the strongest locking mechs available. I agree that it seems very strong but I havent torture tested it... yet

Its my favorite lock, very easy to operate one handed.

There are 4 model variations, grey/splatter(400 pieces w/ no serial numbers), black/splatter, G10, G10 stonewashed. And a 5th if you count my Black/Black one :-)

One flaw of the Offset that might be the result of the MIM process is that the blade tip is crooked. I've seen this in about 6 Offsets that I've had pass through my hands, and is also the case in the one I have now that's a user.

same thing with my user, tip pretty lop sided. My other ones are pretty good, might have a slight bend in one... how many offsets have you handled?
