Hi there, does anyone have experience with taking apart Kershaw Speedsafe knives?Specifically the Scrambler model?

Upon taking it apart, HALF of a brass washer fell out, and I'm not sure where from.

There are also 2 black metal washers, and 2 brass washers sandwiched on either side of the blade.Should the brass be up against the knife, and the flat washer against the frame?

Am I missing 2 more brass washers?

If anyone has some advice, or ideally a parts breakdown of this knife it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Here's a video for the Scallion, a speedsafe model, which may be helpful.

Thanks for the reply! Mine appears to be a different style though. I have 4 washers (and half of a broken one) 2 brass washers with multiple holes in them around the edges and 2 flat black washers.

Can't find a tutorial or a diagram anywhere.

Not sure on the scrambler, here is another vid of a cryo.

Good luck...you'll get it eventually.

Interesting, I've taken apart many speedsafe Kershaws, but never seen one with 4 washers, plus half a washer. I really have no idea what's going on with the half washer piece, however if it were me working on it, I'd put the brass washers (probably actually phosphor bronze) against the blade, and then the other metal washers on top of those against the liners (frame). You may have to actually send that one back though if you can't figure out what's going on with that half washer.

'Brass' to blade, OP. Just put it together as best you can using the suggested videos as a rough guide. The half-washer sounds like half-assed shoddy assembly. Worst case scenario, you can always buy a brand new replacement for less than $25 online.

If you send it in, some poor fella in China might get taken behind the barn...:rolleyes:

Good luck, OP!

I've attached a link to some photos, I'm on mobile and have been struggling all morning to attach a photos so it's just in an Imgur gallery.

I never expected that, but maybe you're right and 2 of those washers just stuck together when they were assembling?

Ok, A picture is worth 1000 words, thank you for getting those posted.

That is definitely not supposed to be part of the assembly in my opinion.

I also don't remember seeing those perforated phosphor bronze washers in previous offshore Kershaw offerings.

Put it back together with the washers on each side of the blade and I think you are good to go.

Very interesting, and again thanks for the pictures; I understand the frustration of dealing with phones and forums!

Thanks so much for your help! That spare washer was really throwing me for a loop.
