When did Kershaw stop offering the Skyline made in China? It's a fine knife, totally legit. Just wondering when and/or why they stopped making them in China?

Mine was purchased from an well known, legit dealer and is clearly marked on the back of the tang: China. I've got several China Kershaw; Oso-sweet, Volt II, Crown, Kurai and Drone (two of those, my favorite). All fine knives.

My error, the Skyline is USA made, but marked with a XXXX on the back. I guess it was a factory second? It was only about $20. I can't find anything wrong with it either cosmetic or structural. Came very sharp, holds the edge, works just fine.

XXXX indicates a factory 'Blem' item.

Skylines have always been US made.

In general, it's not uncommon to get fakes even from legit dealers. A scammer purchases a legit knife but then returns a fake which is then simply put back into inventory to be passed onto another.

Kershaw Chill is similar to the Skyline and it's made in China. You may be thinking of that?

No, it is a Skyline, I was just mistaken about it being made in China (too many brain cells killed over the years :-) It is a XXXX factory blem, but I've just gone over it carefully and don't see anything wrong with it. It is good knife, looks great, works great. You can send me all of these XXXX skylines around :-)

KAI did something like this before with the Speed Bump. People were ordering what they thought were US made knives, only to get the newer Chinese models delivered. I see you overlooked the blem markings, but this happened before with KAI.

That's one of those things you learn as you go along. My "oops" was buying a Spyderco at a gunshow before I learned about the notch they file in seconds. The knife was fine but paid too much for it being a second.
