Kiln Controller?

While I haven't built mine yet this looks like it might work well and the price is sure right. I'm not sure which thermocouple would be right but from the description in one of his other auctions the K thermocouple has the right temp range. Sounds like the temp display is degrees C, which would confuse me no end.

Hopefully someone who knows what they're talking about will chime in here. I bought the controller recommended by Don Fogg from SE Heaters; it was about $250. I still need to deal with the thermocouple issue and welcome suggestions for my salt pot.

Guys this looks like the real deal, complete for $68. I just bought a complete controller from Surgar Creek for $200 and that was a good price. You want a type K themalcouple for high temp. Also this unit may be able to read in F, you should ask the seller.
I have a 24'' surgar creek Knife maker kiln and I like it, $589 with a manual controller.

The controller shown looks like it will do the job.
I use OMEGA controllers.
They are programmable for several cycles etc.
I like the programable ramping down features for annealing!

I could find no information on this specific model, but it looks to be a simple set-point controller. You set the temp required in with the switches, the display indicates the current temp.
It appears to have alarm limits (fuzzy picture), but it's not clear how it's set. Hopefully these come with some instructions, seeing as they are new units.
It looks to have all you need to control an oven or kiln.
It won't do a slow ramp, or ramp and soak, but I can watch a clock to do that manually.
I think I'll get one.

Dave,
The thermocouple included probably will not work well in a salt bath. I think you'll need one with some sort of sheath (Iconel?). Ask Don Fogg, maybe?

Thanks guys,
I bought one just to have. I figured for that price, when I do buy a kiln or oven I will save some cash on the controller. Thanks for all the help.

Will. I bought one of these controllers from this same company recommended by another knifemaker i have not finished my oven yet so i havn,t actually used it. I was happy with the deal..Specify 120 of 220 volt . You have to use 2 heating elements with the 220 volt model..I can email you the wiring dia if you like .Its not included with the kit however it comes with instructions

Allen,
Could you email me a copy of the wiring diagram, I am going with 120 because I'm gonna build a small oven. Also besides what is included in the kit what else do I need besides the element and firebricks?
