I stumbled across a Kissing Crane Camp knife with yellow jigged scales from someone selling local to me. Are these common? I have been trying to do some research and can’t seem to find much about them? I’m planning on picking it up and just want to learn about it. I figured someone here would know something about it. Thanks!

The term 'camp knife' could mean many things. Is it a fixed blade, or a folder? How many blades? Etc?

Your right I should of been more specific. It’s a folder with a main blade, a awl, screwdriver/ bottle opening, and can opener. I’m trying to figure out how to post photos.

I believe it’s the Chinese made one unfortunately I thought it was going to be the German solingen one.

There are no absolutes, but:

When it comes to Solingen-made knives, generally if it says 'Solingen' on the tang stamp it's a German made knife made of German parts. If it's stamped 'Germany' it's assembled in Germany of parts sourced globally, or are made in China in their entirety. I don't know of a sure way to tell the difference. The stiletto style Kissing Cranes are made in Italy.

If you have the box it's a dead giveaway. If it says Kissing Cranes (note the plural) , it's a German made knife. Kissing Crane is Chinese. A shield with Kissing Crane is a Chinese knife.

It's interesting to note that these knives were usually called Kissing Crane long before they started making them in China. Easy, huh?

Kissing Cranes name was sold to Ch...
But actual KC knives are made in Italy under name of KC founder Robert Klaas

Thank you for all the info. This one is actually Chinese then and I won’t be buying it. It has the Kissing Crane label along with the kissing cranes shield.
