Well, I just couldn't wait. I just *had* to show off my BLADE show purchase. (Ask any forumite at the show how obnoxious I was showing off my prize possesion!) It's Kit's medium size model with a 3.5" Talonite drop point blade. It has carbon fiber scales and titanium bolsters. The titanium liners are .065" thick. The blade is .145" thick. This sucker is major league strong. I just can't get over how solid it is. You have to see it to believe it. The crafstmanship is out of this world.

Special thanks goes to Walt Welch who supplied Kit with a billet of Talonite with which to make the knife. That's *much* appreciated Doc!

I'll post a more detailed review at a later date. Thanks again, Kit!

Hey Kelly,

Have you been able to go 5 minutes without flicking it yet?-LOL
Thats a great knife you have man!

Man, am I jealous! That is indeed a great looking piece!

I got to fondle it a little as well...sweet and nifty little knife. I had to try and not drool as I played with it. One day I will try and join the "Carson Club"...those model fours are what a folding knife should be.

I will concur that Kelly's Model 4 is terrific looking! The CF handles are snazzy, although the sdandard G10 ain't too shabby

Kelly, I thought about switching them out when you weren't looking, but you were always looking! Have you tried any Tuff Glide on the pivot? It really smooths out the action.

Gee, it's just like I remember it, Great!

and I hope that I didn't snore too much, thanks again for splitting the room cost at the show! It was great fun!

Ah, fellow Carsonites!

It was great helping to man Kit's table and getting to meet the "faithful".

I was lucky enough to see all of the knives that Kit brought for the show before it began, and I must say that both Kelly and a certain someone else who shall go nameless (CPR) got some pretty darn nice knives. So did about 50 other folks. Kit was out of product the first day of the show. (Surprise, surprise.)

While we're gloating, how 'bout checking out my latest Carson acquisition on the top of page 80 of the May issue of Blade.

When I saw that Damascus beauty I just knew I had to have it.

And while I'm at it, a special thanks to Kit for being a great friend and my bud CJ who not only shared his room with me, but gave me a knife he made under the tutelage of Kit Carson. It's a beauty and only the moreso for it being the third knife he had ever made. (Sorry to make you blush CJ.

Great show gang. Bet next year's will be just as good.

Blues,

Thanks again for the recommendations at the show! I doubt that there's a better knife for the money out there. You are one persistant guy, and I'm glad that you are!

Your Carsons are terrific! I hope to have a similar collection someday.

Take care and I owe you one.

Later,
Chris

Chris,

No problem brother. (Oh, alright, you can buy me a beer at the next event.)

It made me happy to be of some help, and truth to tell, it made Kit just as happy.

Enjoy it.

Blues,

You've got a deal. You and Kit are definitely the cream of the crop! Tell Kit "thanks" for me next time you talk to him.

Awesome knife!

I wish I had been at the BladeShow so that Kelly could have shown it to me in person!

I won't feel better until Rob Simonich finishes my Talonite Carnivour, complete with Rolling Lock, months from now.

As I recall, REKAT, Kit Carson, and Rob Simonich, will all be making a few Carnivours with Talonite blades.

Is this a liner lock? Let us know how the carbon fiber scales hold up...they look great. Is the handle as comfortable as it appears? I can hardly wait to hear some more details regarding sharpness and cutting ability!

That is one great looking blade!!!

You said it all right there. I enjoyed finally meeting you at the show.

Gary - I'm the one that got the deal! A Spyderco Calypso Jr. and one of your great sheaths for my baby Sebenza - all for only $59!!! Yup, I like that,
smile.gif
As for you snoring, the massive (((sound waves))) coming out of my mouth must've stopped your's cold. Oh, and Gary - I'll give you $260 for that William Henry. Final offer.
wink.gif

Shaded Dude - Flick knives?? You?? Nah...
biggrin.gif

Blues - Had a great time meeting you and CJ. Between the two of you guys there are some *seriously* nice Carson pieces. Y'all should be very proud.

Donald - Yup - liner lock. A serious one at that. All knife makers should get pointers from Kit on how to make these things right. Talonite Rolling Lock Carnivour? Oh man, that sounds sweet. Bet you can't wait for that one.

After spending three days looking around the show, I can honestly say that there were none there that topped the solidity of the Carson folders. (OK - maybe those 8 lb. Farid folding bricks... uhh, knives. Those were the ones that you had to hope the bad guys tripped over, because you sure couldn't lift them up!) It's the same feeling you get when you open and close a Mercedes door. Total tactile bliss.

Great Knife!!! Talonite blade - OOOH Man!!!
Kit's work is as good as it gets - it's great to see other Carson lovers here. I only have three for now but that will change: large Mod.16 Tanto w/skeletonized Ti handle; 3.5" spear-point 16 w/carbon fiber handle & stellite blade(similar to talonite) & last week a 4" Mod.18 Wharncliffe(only 1 made so far I think) with carbon fiber handle. The 18 makes an incredible tomato slicer among other things. I'll try & get some pictures up soon.
Blues, I didn't realize you were into Carson's that much - I would love to see your collection some time. Kit's work is the best for users.

Again, Senator that is an awesome knife & you will appreciate the blade - I have been using my Stellite for over 3 years & only had to run it over a Spydie ceramic once & it still cuts hair with the best of them.
