So I already have a block set of knives, but for Xmas my girlfriend gave me this:

which is awesome. The only problem is, I don't have anywhere to put it. I don't want to buy another block just for this one knife, and I don't want to leave it sitting in the drawer either. I was wondering if anyone here could recommend some ideas or a sheath maker for this. Worst comes to worst i'll make my own block, but i'd rather leave that as a last resort.

Being cheap my kitchen knives have sheaths made by taking a 1/32" thick piece of polyethylene and bending it with a propane torch for heat , pinch it so it grips the blade a bit and stapling the edges with a heavy duty stapler.

any other ideas, since i don't own pieces of polyethylene nor a propane torch? :P

Similar problem for me. I attached a half inch wooden blank, the width of my knife block, on the back of my block. I used 4 X 1/8" spacers on the 4 corners and essentialy created an additional slot. I did it all with Gorilla Glue and it's still working and is not noticeable.

The title for this thread reminded me of "back in the day" when I used to have a custom sheath for a Chicago Cutlery 10" Chef's Knife sewn to the inside of my bike vest. . . :)

Terrific knife. I've had a similar knife for several years, and it is easily my most used kitchen knife. We were going to give them as gifts this year but they were sold out at all the usual local places!

Might as well buy the big block now, or the super magnet commercial kitchen magnet strips, which are interesting, but may scratch that wonderful blade.

Enjoy!

thanks for the suggestions. I don't want the magnetic bar to scratch the blade so i think i'm gonna go with what Ryan posted.
