Kizer 2016 New product alert -- Rogue(Ki3480)--Dirk Pinkerton!!!

I need Knife Center to get stock on these...I passed on BladeHQ due to a KC gift card. Starting to regret it now as KC shows no sign of getting any in...

I've been carrying mine since I got it. I like it a lot. My only complaint is that it's too thick behind the edge. That could be resolved by using thinner stock and/or a steeper primary grind. I manually thinned mine a bit.

I finally got home from a protracted trip and got to handle my Rogue for the first time. I really like this knife and I'm amazed at how much you get for an incredible price!

First, I want to comment on Kizer packaging. This is a knife that you could proudly give as a gift with a high quality presentation box, carrying pouch and polishing cloth. Good job Kizer!

The knife, like all Kizers, is well finished. It's a little hard to tell with my crappy lighting and cell phone pictures but the handle flats are a brushed Ti and the grooves are a matte black. It's a really striking look.

The knife fits very well in my average sized hand with a full 4 finger grip. The thumb ramp jimping is effective and secure. I haven't had opportunity to do any cutting with it yet, so I can't speak to that, but the bevels are even and the knife arrived sharp. The detent is good, the blade can't be shaken out.
This isn't a speed knife, although I'm not sure I'd want a Wharnie to be blazing fast, but the deployment is smooth and the thumbstuds are the typically well executed Kizer thumbstud.

Check out the centering (perfect) and the blade stock! That's just under 0.16" blade stock in a 3" blade. Talk about stout!
I'm really happy with this collaboration between Dirk Pinkerton and Kizer. Essentially, Mr. Pinkerton has created a design in full Ti and S35VN that should have cost $200 or more, and Kizer managed to execute it at just a little over a Benjamin. I'm looking forward to more of the Pinkerton designs which should be hitting the stores soon!

Now, a couple of niddling criticisms (just to prove I'm not on the Kizer payroll ;)). I'm not in love with the pocket clip; I wish it were black or brushed Ti like the frames.
The edges of the grooves that are cut into the handle are a little sharp. I might go after them and smooth them a little.
The black trim area on the lockside is fairly glossy whereas the black trim area on the presentation is noticeably more matte...

And that's all I've got. Go get one at the current price. They just might be the best value in the knife world right now!

I am really glad to hear you like the Rogue!:cool: I agree with you, Kizer did an awesome job!

Pocket clip, I hear you. This does seem to be the major area of concern for most. I think we'll be able to find a better option.

Just to add to Hackenslash"s review this little blade is awesome. He was right on in stating the blade grind is a little to steep. The pocket clip, well I had an extra benchmade grip clip that fit perfect once you opened the holes a little. Great job Kizer, you seem to be getting most of knife budget right now.

Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm glad to see the Rogue find fans. Here in the US warehouse, we just got our first batch of Rogues after the dealer orders have been fulfilled. I hope to have a chance soon to handle one myself, I've waiting for a production version since seeing the prototype at SHOT show.

Kizer.

The only thing I can add personally, not having had one in hand (yet), is that the clip is right have only. I'd love to have the option, as I'm a lefty :) Once I get mine, I'd there any way for me to send it in to get some left side love for the clip?

Any news on a flipper version? That, paired with the Escort, and the Sheepdog collab, is all I would ever need. Not a huge fan of the pivot design, kind of looks like a flower and doesn't really go with the aesthetics of these, but could be overlooked for the price I suppose.

I will post a line drawing of the concept in another thread. I have talked to Kizer about a flipper version. They aren't opposed to the idea, they just want to make sure there is a good balance between flipper and thumb opener. Maybe keep the thumb stud on the blade?

This really is an awesome knife, I had one ... and plan to get another next month.
