Recently got a Begleiter XL on the secondary and it has some issues. Mainly some lock slip and there’s a lot o I emailed Kizer customer service and I was told because I’m not the original owner, there’s no warranty. They advised me to send pictures and they can offer ideas on how to fix it but there’s nothing they can do 😆

This is exactly why I like USA made knives, superior customer service. This is my only Chinese made knife currently and I wouldn’t own another. I’m not much into budget blades but wanted to check this one out.

Any experiences with Kizer warranty? Please post if you have, genuinely curious

Was this issue disclosed in the sale? If not, send it back. Where was the deal done? How'd you pay?

Should kizer be on the hook for a knife when the issue might not be one of warranty? They and you have no way of knowing what was done to that knife.

I'd personally like to see them do more, at least take a look at the knife. If it was damaged by the previous owner, they can always deny the claim. I'd imagine that if it is defective, they'd want it fixed, no matter the chain of ownership. That's what good companies want. I mean, missing fingers because of a defective knife is a bad look!

Let's see what they say. Kizer Cutlery Kizer Cutlery

The lock isn’t cut out properly and doesn’t lock every time and it will slip. It also has a lot of play when it’s closed. It was BNIB and I doubt the seller even opened it. Regardless, absolute trash customer service. Exactly why I don’t buy knives like this. It’s easier for them to replace something rather then fix it cause they’re so cheap landed from China. But they won’t even do that cause you need a proof of purchase

Obviously. You wouldn’t expect that on inexpensive lower cost knives 😆

How'd the deal work? Where was it? How'd you pay? I still say send it back. If a BNIB knife is dangerously defective, it should go back from where it came. Honest sellers know this.

If that is the current wording of their warranty then it is certainly not up to par with their competitors and absolutely lowers the value of their products. Care to explain Kizer Cutlery Kizer Cutlery ?

Oh, I'm more talking about the bigger American companies that have cheap Chinese import knives like kershaw, Spyderco, crkt, sog, etc...think big box store clamshell. That's who kizer, civivi, crjb want to compete with. Lots of companies say they only warranty the original owner, rarely do we see them demand a receipt.

Good companies don't want any dangerously defective products with their name on it floating around out there, no matter who bought it.

Kershaw knives from Kai USA Ltd. carry a limited warranty for the lifetime of the original owner

If your knife blade breaks, please call our customer service department at 877.269.8490 and they will assist you with a warranty exchange If the knife was purchased from a SOG authorized seller

This warranty runs as long as you own your knife. Coverage ends if you sell or otherwise transfer the knife to someone else, or if your CRKT® knife is modified in any way.

Taillight warranties for sure. I mean, I’d completely understand if it was a trashed knife. But it’s literally brand new.

I recently had a problem with a Kershaw made in USA 1776. I called Kershaw. I explained to them the parts I needed. They told me since it was a USA made knife it was guaranteed. They asked if I wanted to send my knife in for repairs. I declined and told them that I could fix it myself as long as I had the correct parts. Less than a week later I received two new torsion bars, a pivot bolt assembly, and two new PB washers. They didn't care if I was the original owner. This is some of the best customer service I've seen come down the pike in a long time. Most other knives warranty at this price range is sketchy and they will do anything they can to get out of fixing your knife. But not Kai Industries

Lol, I know how to find all the warranties my dude....

And this would be my point. Companies put lots of stuff in warranties. Mostly to cover their own ass in case of a problem customer. Rarely do they enforce all the fine print. Good companies do not want faulty product with their name on it out in the world, no matter if the original purchaser or not.

If this knife is truly defective, Kizer should want it out of circulation. They'll never know if it is truly defective or not if they are unwilling to take a look. Have the OP send it in. If it is what he says, warranty the damn thing. If it isn't, send it back to him. No one would have a problem with that.

They asked for a receipt or proof of purchase.
Have the original owner contact them with the original receipt, using your address as the return address. Hopefully Kiser with provide a shipping label which can be forwarded to you.
Or just ask for a copy of the original receipt and do it yourself.

I wouldn’t go to that much trouble for a POS knife.
