I read
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/kizlyar-knives.1403422/
and was surprised that the forum still does not have a similar topic.

In this topic I will talk about Russian firms. Some of them deserve attention, some do not. Many of them I owned, or I own today.

I noticed that a lot of garbage, which is known in the Motherland, suddenly becomes a precious abroad.

Ask, ask questions, try to answer everything :)

PS^ Sorry, I'm using Google translator and I do not speak good English, so I can ask again and do not understand any phrases from the first time :)

Kizlyar Supreme
http://kizlyarsupreme.ru/
A big topic on the Russian-language forum: https://forum.guns.ru/forummessage/64/1011895.html

This company is in Russia to the initial, budgetary level. The quality of products is VERY different from party to party. Perhaps some part, or all the knives are made in China. It is recommended to inspect the knife in reality and choose from several specimens. It is not recommended to buy folding knives of this company, because they are very inferior to foreign models (including good, known Chinese knives). There is a difference in the heat treatment of steel, in this regard, there are many reviews of broken knives.

BUT can get caught and quite a successful copy, which will serve you more than one year.

Knife design is very controversial. Cheap advertising products. For example:

There are a lot of shortcomings in the processing of the knife. Almost all products do not have enough polishing.

Conclusion: Knives are recommended for novice users who do not want to, or can not pay for a more expensive and high-quality knife. Also, knives are recommended for those who work with a knife very roughly, and it is not a shame to break or lose it. DO NOT represent any value. Usually, instead of Kizlyar Supreme, it is recommended to buy a budget Cold Steel or Mora knives. These firms have a more stable quality, better characteristics at a similar price.

The price in Russia is considered too high. At least for this price you can buy more interesting and quality knives.

Tell me more, I'm looking to buy more Russian knives. Which do you recommend, and why?

I ask to understand, I will spread the information gradually in a few days.

I would recommend Owlknife http://owlknife.ru/ and RVS-knives https://www.rvsknife.ru/ . I'll write about them tomorrow or the day after tomorrow :)

In a more budget segment, you can see Kizlyar http://www.kizlyar.ru/ http://www.kizlyar-shop.ru/ (but not Kizlyar Supreme), but it depends on the model.

You can also see some models of A & R Zlatoust https://zlatoust-air.ru/ru/

And in Russia the price of these knives is a couple of times less than in America and Europe. Who will go to the world Cup, there is a reason to buy.
Hahaha!

I'm English - no point going to the World Cup, we will get knocked out in the first round! :D

Would love to visit Russia anyway.

ruskis on the forum... well shit...
for me the only ruski knife brand worth a damn is Shirogorov
Sinkevich is nice too but he is Belorussian ;)

I have two A&R Zlatoust fixed blade knives with stacked leather handle (the Sledopyt and the Vostok). Very well built, good finish and very good sheath. The 95X18 steel is nothing special, it's similar to AUS8 or rather 18Cr13Mov. These are affordable, good looking, no frills knives. I have zero complaint.

Looking forward to whatever information our Russian friends can provide on knives which are relatively unknown in the West.
Possibly people using the epithet ‘ruski’ and claiming that all Russian knives are worthless except Shirogorov will have a somewhat dampening effect.

It's the same problem that Chinese makers face -- actually, they probably have it worse for a variety of reasons both deserved and undeserved -- but your point still stands.

I, for one, am eager to see great knives emerge from all over the world. My hope is that regional "flavors" emerge like we have seen from South Africa. My fear is that the global nature of social media and knife production will make regional flavors impossible. Regardless, a great knife is a great knife and it would be a lot of fun to discover the next great Russian knifemaker five minutes before the rest of the world does. :)

I apologize for the long break.

Today I will tell about Kizlyar knives. NOT Kizlyar Supreme. These are two different manufacturers.
About Kizlyar Supreme supri I wrote above.

Official site https://www.kizlyar.ru/

Knives firm Kizlyar most common in the territory of Russia in the free market. That is, you can come to any hunting or fishing store, and with a probability of 90% there will be sold Kizlyar knives there.
Knives occupy the lowest price segment, but they have a very good value for the price - quality. Most often in a set there are very quite good leather sheath.

Kizlyar also produces cold weapons with a long blade (by analogy with Cold Steel), and knives, which under Russian law are cold weapons, and special permission is required to carry them.
Of the minuses - simple steel AUS-8 or similar, as well as FAT CUT GRIND (as in axes) and very different heat treatment of steel. Sometimes marriage occurs, but I did not come across.

The knives of this company were actually used and continue to be used by Russian special forces - they are bought with their own money.

For example, the Scorpion model was popular during the Chechen campaign, as far as I know.

The model KO-1 and KO-2 is very popular. This is a double-edged dagger, one of the best in its class.

In general, a lot of combat knives are made. Often, these knives are presented in special units with a gift engraving.

In addition, a lot of models of tourist, fishing, household knives are made.
The most popular models are Finnish, Taran and Owl (clone Fallkniven F1). The material of the handle - elastron, resembles a craton, but more rigid. There are also options with wooden handles.

In the end I will show my knife of this company, which is very dear to me. Burgut model.

Folding knives of this company are not recommended for purchase, as a very high rejection rate, often the mechanics need to be finished manually with a file. Their price often does not match the quality, the design can be considered obsolete against the background of many Chinese folding knives.

At the same time, if you can choose from several copies, you can take a good folding with not bad quality knife that can be used, and not just stored in a collection.

If you want to supplement your collection with a knife from Russia, which is massively produced and does not cost much - definitely worth taking Kizlyar fixed knife. "Cheap and angry" as we say. They are quite strong, and, most likely, will suit inexperienced users, or for rough work. They do not mind breaking. :)

Only Russian knife I own is from the guy who runs Atropos knives. Amazing knife at an extremely low price. Have you ever used his stuff?

Any comments on Custom Knife Factory, or Andrei Sander Knives? I learned of them at Blade West, and was absolutely blown away.

It doesn't seem to wear like real d2.
