I live near Blacksburg, Va(about 30 miles from Roanoke). I would like to know if there are any good places to go where I can shop for knives. I've lived in the area for a long time and I only know of a few small places that have a limited selection. I want to go to a stocking dealer store where I can look and handle different production, semi-production and some custom pieces.

The only place I know of with any selection is the gun show when it comes around and that too is usually disappointing. I guess I would drive as far as 100 miles or so if the store had a good enough selection.

Hello Kimberholic, I just ate at Red Lobster there in Blacksburg/Christiansburg yesterday and my Wife made me break open my wallet at books-a-million for her. I know there is a gunshop with knives on Melrose near the Melrose and Peterscreek intersection, their selection is small though and I have bought a knife or two in a small shop in Tanglewood is it's stil in there, I'm not sure though been a long time since I've went to that part of Roanoke my parents live in Salem so i stick to that end of the county mostly, sometimes head over to the Valleyview/Williamson road area. You can always come up and visit New Graham anytime you want, might be the opposite direction but is not that much farther. Hope you find something if I hear of one I'll let you know.

Unless it's very new, the only place that sells knives in Tanglewood is Blue Ridge Outdoors (mostly SAKs). The gun/hunting shops have a meager selection. You might check out Roanoke Guns (the place NGK referred to), Bryansteens (Best gunshop in the Valley), and Trebark's (down 220, near Buck Mtn). Sadly enough, Wal-Mart probably has a better selection than the others.

Otherwise, New Graham Knifeshop is about the only dedicated knifeshop in the region I'm aware of, but it's a bit of a hike.

The only reason I remembered is because I just called them to get a quote on a Howa barreled action. They're one of two official Howa dealers in the state.

I haven't been into CMT in quite some time, but I doubt they have anything other than SAKs and Bucks. They're mainly oriented to team/ball sports and have a poor selection of other items.

If you have time, a day trip to Smokey Mtn Knifeworks in Tenn might be worthwhile. It's only 4 hours from Roanoke (about 3 or so from Blacksburg)

Nothing new in Tanglewood Mall :( . CMT does carry a small selection of Spyderco knives. And there's Whitey's Knives & Tools on Williamson Road (in the flea market) -- haven't been there in a while, but in the past they've carried a selection of Benchmade and Spyderco knives.

I like to stop by Whitey's Knives (in the flea market) whenever we are in Roanoake. They have a decent selection, including a lot of good quality brands. I got my BM940 there. They gave me a nice discount which made the price very reasonable (outstanding for a B&M store).

Thanks. I'll have to stop in to that flea market next time I'm down that way.

Let me make sure I've got the right one. I-581 to Hershberger to left on Williamson Road to the flea market up on the right side? Happy's?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Yes that sounds like the right flea market. The knife and tool shop is close to the main entrance. The good stuff is in the display cases.
