As almost everyone knows by now, Blackie Collins died last month in a motorcycle accident. I'd like this topic to be a tribute to his career in the knife industry. Anyone have a knife photo or story to share, or even a comment on his designs?

I'll start with these knives from my collection.
These knives by AG Russell use the Thumbolt locking sheath, designed by Blackie Collins.

And here are two knives by Meyerco.

Obviously Myerco was quite proud of having Blackie Collins as a designer, and feature his name prominently on the knives and packaging.

Great tribute to the man. I was fortunate to have briefly met the guy at Blade 2011.

Not my photo, but my favorite necker is a Meyerco Blackie Collins Law Dog:

Out of production, apparently, after wearing one for a while, I bought another to stash.

I did have to heat the sheath some and smush around a little to get better retention.

Blackie's name pops up in a lot of places, some unexpected.

And it doesn't always appear on his work.

Either I had forgotten, or never knew, that Blackie Collins designed the Rolox. I have two of those, this older Gerber-Benchmade and a newer version from CRKT.

He was also the Grandfather of the Assisted knife.

who can forget the Strut and Cut by Meyerco.

Such an innovator!!

Digging through some boxes of knives tonight, I came across this one. Marble's Pocket Safety Folder, designed by Blackie Collins.

Here's another, the Case Tri-Fold.

I never knew the Tri-Fold was a Blackie Collins design since it's not marked, but I recently saw an old advertisement at another website.
