I am thinking of getting an engraved knife for each of the guys that are going to be in my wedding. I want something compact, good quality, classy looking, and affordable as I will be buying 8 or 9 of them. I was considering a Kershaw Chive, as I like mine, and they seem like they would be good for engraving. Any other ideas? I wonder if any of the dealers would give me a discount when buying that many of them?

why dont you buy 8-9 diffrent types of knives and wrap them so its a suprise what they get.

btw, i beleve that benchmade offers blade etchings and im sure if you approach a good dealer he will really cut you a break on them sence your buying so many.

The Spyderco stainless Kiwi is a nice little knife, the handle is rounded but should be able to at least take a set of engraved initials.

Victorinox alox Bantam. Just a blade and como can/bottle opner/screwdriver with an area on the scales for engraving.
The alox Classic also has an engraving panel.

It's hard to beat a good SAK, but engraveable they're not. I may tend to go with a slipjoint, but a pe delica SS can be engraved-the kiwi is a nice choice, but if you're really happy with the chive, get one or eight.

Man-I just realized moore maker has custom messages available for some of their designs, as does victorinox.

pe delica SS: I would be very happy to be given one of these as a practical mimento from a wedding.

I'm gonna have to also recommend the PE Delica SS from Spyderco. I love Benchmade but I don't think there's anything like the Delica.

:)

I would also say SS Dragonfly, although it will cost more than the chive. The hcive has "cool" factor too if your friends aren't really knife-knuts, but the dfly is a better user and the engraving will look better on it.

The all stainless spyderco cricket would be a great little gift for a groomsman and is very engravable. It has a high quality VG-10 steel blade with a snazzy recurve shape that cuts very well. Less than 45 bucks at knifeworks.com

You are a good friend. I've gotten so many useless, although nice and considerate, gifts.

Also give them a penny so that they can "pay" you for the knife, otherwise it can cut apart your friendship. This is a very old custom and one with which I heartily agree.

I'm voting for an alox SAK. My Bantam has an egravable panel on it (small but ok for initials).

Either that or a 20" Himalayan Imports Ang Khola. And make them wear them with the tuxedos!

What's the middle Benchmade? I have to have it  !

silenthunterstudios, The one with red and black handle is the Benchmade 771-01 aluminum handle the middle is the 770 carbon fiber the bottom is 773 aluminum handle

I have a 770 and it is a great knife for watch pocket carry! Tough little thing too!

Hey Glocker , I'm going to try to steer you away from a knife for your groomsmen. I dont know what 'sort' of guys your friends are , if they are like us then I guess a knife would be good idea but if they arent like us....
In my experience people who arent knife or gun people usually wont have much to do with a knife or a gun... Gift or not.
Several years back my Brother got all of us in his groom party the most useful grooms gift I can think of , a Gerber MT , engraved.
I carry mine and use it every day as do a few of his groomsmen who are friends of mine also. It doesnt have to be a Gerber , there are a lot of nice multi-tools out there , also they are far more useful than a knife and will be used a lot more , unless your looking for that special gift that will tucked inside a sock drawer.
You get BM's prepare to spend a sh*tload of cash. These engraved Mt's cost my Bro almost 200$ , very well spent.
Everyone loves a good MT

I think that unless the groomsmen are known knife knuts, or would at least appreciate a good knife, something that can be carried on a keychain is probably the way to go. This way it is more likely to get used and appreciated than something larger that might just get thrown in a drawer.

I would think that most any knife could be engraved, well the blade at least, depending on what type of engraving is desired.

GRACIAS! :D :D :D

Check out Russell's Funny Folder. The titanium handled model ($34.95) comes with an ATS-34 blade. The titanium handle is too hard to engrave, but it can be imprinted using a laser and some spray-on goop. Any large trophy shop should be able to do the job. I gave one to my wife, with her name imprinted on it-it looks really slick. Also, the Funny Folder is one of the neatest knives out there.
