Anyone know anything about the bowie knife used by the character "Billy" in the movie Predator? You know, the scene where he is standing on the log after throwing away his gun, waiting to fight the alien. Man that was one awesome bowie and shealth! Anyone know who made it and where I can get one? Thanks.

I believe all the knives in "Predator" were made by Jack Crain. We'll get confirmation in a few minutes.

I don't have any contact info for him, but I'm sure someone does.

Frost Cutlery was also awarded a license to produce copies of this knife. At the time the retail price for a Frost copy was about $300.00. The Copies do differ in small ways from the original Crain product- but the differences are relatively minor (remember they were licensed copies). These do come up on auction in EBAY from time to time.

I actually ordered the MCS knife (the one Arnold used in the movie) from Jack Crain back in '95 and just got it this year. I guess I was lucky to get it at all from other stories I heard. Anyway, it was a pretty nice knife, but I ended up selling it at a knife show to get something better. The big blade you are interested in is called the Predator Machete, and runs about $1500.00 from Mr. Crain. Don't know if he's making knives anymore, but here's his info:

Do not order anything from Jack Crain. I ordered a Predator knife from him in 88, and have not seen it to this day. He stole 600.00 from me for it, and all he did was whine about why he couldn't deliver. Then, when asked about it by Steve Dick, he had the b***s to say I refused to pay for the balance, so he sold it to someone else. If you want more satisfaction from throwing away money, just flush it down the toilet. Same results.

Goat,
Consdering the fact that a mini-gun just wounded the sucker, I think I would have to go for the Starfleet issue SAK, the one with the communicator.
