I am sure this has been covered before, but I can't find the thread. Does anybody know what the knife is that Nicolas Cage uses (abuses) in National Treasure.

And since I am at it. What is the knife, the bad guy uses in Tomb Raider I?

Thanks in advance!

Wow, a "Surgical stainless steel" blade and "Aircraft grade aluminum" handles.

Maybe if that steel was "space station stainless" and the aluminum was "submarine grade" I'd be tempted.

Yep, it's the Gerber 3.25...I was given a heads up to watch for that scene, so I looked REAL close. You can actually read "Gerber" on the blade.

What is the scene like? I'm going to go watch that and when it comes, I'm going to stand up and shout "OH ****, that's a Gerber AR 3.25!" :D

i have that knife... was my EDC til i got my NEW Kershaw today.... here a pic of it, the top one is the AR 3.25.... good knife. Mortar, however, dont think it would stant up to that.... thats what they call 'fiction'... lol

You got it backwards man, it's space station grade aluminum and Submarine grade stainless.

Of course I still would pass because it says Gerber on the blade.

It's when they go to the liberty bell historical site, he digs a 200+ year old brick out of the wall to recover an artifact hidden by Benjamin Franklin. It's really old crumbling mortar, while it would scratch the blade for sure, it would easily be able to do it.

Thanks guys, Gerber would have never occured to me.

Usually I cringe whenever I read surgical stainless, but my experiences with Gerber let me doubed that it uses crap steel. A Gerber EZ-out with ATS-34 blade is my beater that I keep in the drawer of my desk at work, and while I hold no love for the knife, I grudgingly have to admit that is is very well made: After years of use, solid lockup no blade play and the blade takes a very good edge and holds it.

Any leads on the knife with a finger ring in Tomb Raider I?

...That the Tomb knife was a custom-job that the SFX people cobbled together for the movie.
Don't think it's available in general production? It seemed to work as an OTF stiletto, like a MicroTech Masterpiece, with that ring-thing stuck on there.

It was a nice job, whatever it was. That thing they're selling on eBay sure ain't it!
