Hello everyone, just registered. I had a question for anyone with experience with these knives. Knife King is a company selling their knives on Amazon, and I picked one up a few months ago. They say the steel is Damascus (some sort of HC1095 which I've never heard of) but I'm pretty sure that part isn't true, I couldn't imagine a blade folded that many times being this price. They look etched but I don't know how to tell the difference. Price maybe? I read the reviews below but there looks to be way too many as if they are fake. I have no idea what to think. I put it through some really quick batoning, feathering, and stabbing tests and have seen not one sign of warping, chipping, or breaking. So in conclusion, does anyone else own one of these knives that has put it through any kind of extensive use?

Hi Mr. Cain, welcome to the forums! HC1095 would refer to 1095 High Carbon steel, which is fairly cheap but well respected. If it is damascus, the blade will consist of two different steels: one stainless, and one carbon. Acid etching the knife will produce the raised, attractive pattern because the two steels corrode at different rates.

Side note, some people may get upset about posting links to Amazon.

Okay, sorry about that, I'll just be learning the rules as I go. And I've heard of 1075 but never 1095 so thanks for informing me on its reputation. I have noticed that it appears to have two different corrosion rates as well. Do you know of any other knives that use 1095? And have you ever heard of this brand?

Haven't heard of your brand, sorry. ESEE knives use 1095, and they are held in high regard by most people.

Cool, I know of ESEE. Obviously it isn't just about the steel and more so is usually about the heat treatment but it's good to have something to somewhat compare it to. By the way I was reading a post of yours in that SHTF thread and I was cracking up (Bear Grylls and the Case Peanut)!!! haha. Thanks for your responses, have a good one.

I believe that they are Pakistan made, which usually their steel isn't what they say, or at least poorly heat treated.

Thanks Mr. Cain, enjoy your time here :D

I am aware of cheap Pakistani knives but what leads you to believe these are? Just asking.

Because cheap Pakistani knives are often "damascus" and look like the ones they sell.

If anybody wants a good laugh, read the reviews on that sales site for these knives. LOTS of 5 star, "greatest knife in the history of knifedom" stuff.

No doubt all unsolicited testimonials on the up-and-up.

Mr Cain...welcome by the way...you say you have tested your Knife King ("really quickly" which proves little) and it has not warped or broke. Has it maintained an edge? It won't. It's soft. It wont break or chip. It will dull.

Well that is why I said the testimonials did seem fake (solicited). And yes testing it quickly does not prove much I know...but after feathering, and batoning a 2x4 and stabbing it pretty hard maybe 15 times, the edge is actually just about where it was from the factory, pretty damn sharp and the tip had no noticeable difference either. But I would like to know if someone else had any experience with these. I'm going to test mine rather extensively and then I'll know for sure if I can trust it or not.

I try to stay away from eBay or amazon knife wise even though amazon is not bad, try to stick to known brands or makers. 1095 is one of the most popular steels out there, inexpensive but still very good.

The prices are about right for a good knife, especially if made in Pakistan; but there is no way to really know without good testing. Good knives and bad knives can be manufactured anywhere. We've seen Chinese pocket knives that sell for $8 delivered.

It looks like Knife King has a lot of others selling fakes, and at least one of the supposed Knife King websites is a phishing scam. So who really knows what you have or how good it is. Intelligent testing should give you a clue.

The real specs are supposed to be:

15N25 & 1075 Over 200 layers of damascus steel
Hardness 58-60 Hrc
we are UK based seller
Buy original item from "Knife King" only. All other sellers are selling fake copies of our knives on this listing. All the good reviews on this knife are earned by knives made in our workshop and some people are trying to take advantage of these good reviews and listing their low quality copies on our listings. Blade: 6.5 inch handle 4.5 inch. Walnut wood handle. Damascus guard and pomel.

Hahaha yeah means Piece of s#*$. Its a poorly made Pakistani knife, but if you like it then enjoy it

Oh I will try to after some testing. And yes I knew what pos meant I just didn't know if that's what you were saying lol...

Yes I generally do as well, I have a few SOGs, CS, Buck, CRKT etc...I actually just picked this up on impulse though I could've probably found something more proven. Thanks for your input.

Yea that's right it said 1075 so what the hell is that? I've never seen it used...well bloody hell nevermind, I'm just going to get out and test it, maybe make a video for the tube and upload it for people to see...hey maybe it'll be the next great thing!!
