Hello! I may be making a trip to Liberia this fall and I'd like to know if any of you know of any knife makers in Liberia. I'd love to bring home something cool!

My wife is from Liberia and I've been there twice but don't recall coming across any bladesmiths. Plenty of cutlasses/machetes I've seen out in the bush are being made by somebody over there, however.

Well, if I can't find a nice fixed blade or folder, then a machete may have to do.

Hopefully someone will chime in that knows somebody!

Say Hi to General Butt naked when you get there :)

Swings & roundabouts; can afford an anvil but not (steel capped) boots.

I would be surprised if you find any locally produced blades in Liberia. I guess there will be lots of cheap Chinese, Indian and Brazilian made machetes. But let us know how it went, who knows?

What do you think they do with derelict vehicle leaf springs? Let them rust?
