Hello,

I have small problem here now and need advice.

Now I making this nice knife with name "Metro" from Bohler M390PM steel 4,3mm thick.
But when I was grinding bevels, belt tored.
I had to move bevel closer to scales, black G10.

First as in design I wanted to mount scales on knife with M5 Torx Sec T25 screws.

Blade lenght : 138mm
Height: 30mm
Whole knife: 264mm.

But now...

Screws or hidden pins ?

Knife will back in 3 days from HT.

Hard one! It really depends on the buyer. You'll lose a buyer with one, and gain another with the other.

In my opinion, I'd keep the screws if there is still enough room for it in the scale behind the bevel, if not pins seem like they'll be your only choice. Always like G10 with screws over pins for a more tactical look, but if you don't have any other choice...the pins will still look fine.

How about a hidden pins in the pin holes and then a pair of bigger torx screws run through your larger holes where the spacing balances? You'd get the lateral strength of the original pin placement but the look and compression strength of the torx screws, just not necessarily where you wanted them before.

You could plug the first big hole with brass or steel and re drill. Moving the front torx screw back a little should not effect the spacing enough to look wrong.
