knife shops in Minneapolis MN

Sadly there are not. There's one dedicated knife shop called Sparta in the Rosedale mall, but their shop is packed full of Chinese made fantasy garbage. They have one case of overpriced benchmades and one case of lower end spydercos in addition to the typical Kershaw stuff and some ka-bars but that's about it. There are a couple of military surplus stores around the Twin Cities area, but they're hit or miss for knives, the same goes for gun shops. Other than that, there's the standard sporting goods stores and such, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Dick's, and REI all carry knives. You'll find mostly cheapo stuff at most of these stores, although REI does carry some benchmades and Cabelas usually has a decent selection but it's a little out of the way and prices are usually pretty high. It's kinda bizarre that a state like MN that is full of hunters/fishermen/outdoorsmen wouldn't have some good knife shops.
 
There used to be some decent shops in the twin cities; they just kind of dwindled away. I found them to be overpriced; good for nothing more than window shopping prior to buying through mail order, and then later over the internet.
 
Sadly Scheels and Cabela's are the best I have found in the state other than the odd ball hardware or sporting goods/gun store with mostly older traditional patterns. Much more fun to poke around the flea markets and antique shops, or pawn shops looking for the occasional buried treasure.
