Let me know if there is, I fly out tomorrow and I'll have 12 hours or so in the area...

There is the House of Blades... not too far from the airport, there is also a Bass Pro and Cabela's within driving distance as well. The House Of Blades sells most of their knives right at MSRP, but if you just want to handle them, then purchase online for a better deal thats cool too. The offer lifetime free sharpening for all of their knives. I always make it a point to visit when ever I am there visiting family. Hope this helps, I am terrible with directions so your kinda on your own for turn by turn directions...

Perfect thanks. I'm really looking to handle a RAM before I buy. Hopefully one of these places will have one.

Bass Pro is as close to DFW airport as you can get, as of sunday I'll be in Dallas for three weeks, so I'll be checking out a few knife shops

As has been previously stated, the House of Blades in Fort Worth has a great selection -- one of the largest and most varied selection I've ever seen in one place, both new and vintage. However, they are proud of their knives. I've very occasionally found a bargain there, but they definitely aren't a bargain house.

If you are going to be in town this coming weekend, there's a gun show in Fort Worth at Will Rodgers. They usually have a good representation of knife dealers and makers. Check out Bladerunner if you go -- I've found him to be very reasonable.

Definitely make it by House Of Blades. HOB is in a 5000 sq. ft. log building with an inventory of over 50,000 knives. Definitely pricey - mostly list price, but still well worth the trip just to browse the inventory. (you can easily spend a couple of hours window shopping - lots of vintage and custom knives, as well)

I have never been to HOB but want to go badly. I go to Bass pro and Cabelas regularly and neither have ever had the RAM. Don't think you'd have luck. In fact, neither BPS or cabelas have that great of a selection anyways. I'd just save gas and go to HOB. I'm sure they have everything BPS or cabelas would have.

Silver Dollar Pawn shop in Dallas use to have a big selection of Randall knives but not sure if they still do?

There is the House of Blades... not too far from the airport, .

I used to live in Fort Worth (a long time ago 1991) and if I remember right the HOB is on Jacksboro Highway on the far west side of Ft W. I checked Maps and it looks like they did move into the Lake Worth area of Ft. Worth just off of Jacksboro Hwy.; which is not near the DFW Airport. The airport is between Dallas & Ft W and HOB is on the NW side of Ft Worth so give yourself some driving time.

HOB's always did have a very impressive collection although as most people have noted they are certainly not a discount store. Look at the paper to see where the nearest large gunshow is when you are there. They used to have at least 2 or 3 nearly every weekend when I lived there. You will find better deal there.

Ft. Worth has become like a second home to me since I married into TX and you guys are making me a little home sick. Eat some Riscky's barbeque for me!

vjb.knife, your right it is a little ways from the airport. I forget about that sometimes because I drive so much...

I hope no one minds me asking this, but i couldnt see starting a new topic for it.

But in the same vein as the original post, can anyone recommend a blade shop in the ATL area?

House of Blades is not located on NW Loop 820, on the west side of Fort Worth. Here's there link:

I used to go in there more than I do now, but one time I was in there the owner's son (at least I'm pretty sure it was the owner's son) tried to sell me a Randall #1 with the previous owner's name stamped on the blade. The salesman tried to tell me it was the name of the guy at Randall that made the knife. Er, sorry, but I got that same option on my #1 -- customer's name stamped on the blade. Don't treat me like I'm an idiot (even if I am). After that, never really trusted them.

Sounds like Kenny! He's usually a pretty good guy.I buy very little there, but it's fun to look. The prices are so high,i have let knives sit for years till the market caught up with their extreme price and then bought them. They buy a lot of collections and sometimes you can find a deal.I'll have a table at the Ft.Worth Gun Show. Will Rogers Auditorium. It will be a huge crowded show(i hope)Park underground and pay to get in at the back door.No Line!(just passing along some tips):)

It sits right above Loop 820.The exit coming from the east is Jacksboro hwy. From the west it's Quebec. It is easy to spot with a huge spinning Bowie Knife sign out front.Big ole log cabin looking building.

You guys are awesome. Looks like my stay will be extended through Saturday. I'll see what I visit. I'm going to head for HOB and maybe a show if I've got the time. I just made it to Dallas but I'm beat. So I'm gonna hit the hay.

House of Blades also has a small store in the FW Stockyards.

BTW--HOB is the only knife store I know of, and I've lived here most of my life.

House of Blades is worth a visit even if you aren't going to buy anything. The days of a lot of the big knife stores like the Acorn in Gatlinburg, TN and other places are a thing of the past. Even though the prices are high at places like HOB and We Be Knives in San Francisco, it is worth the visit. I had been to the small store in the Stockyards a few times and went to the main HOB store a few months ago. I didn't buy any knives, but what I did find and buy were a number of old Knives annuals including a copy of the first one I ever bought in 1991 which had gotten lost in a move or divorce somewhere along the line:D

As a matter of fact, the Ft. Worth gun show IS this weekend.

When you go to HOB, try to look for Cheaper than Dirt. It is also on loop 820. Its a place well worth looking in.
