Knives Live, The Knife and Gun Show, The Knife Show...

We have Dish TV, and with 130 channels to chose from what do I watch? Knife shows.
Mike Politowski- the "round guy with the square deal" and his show specials, Sheila and Tom hawking thier bulk deals, and the guys from Smokey Mountain Knifeworks...

I haven't called in and blurted out my credit card # yet to any of these folks, but I've come real close. Particularly for some nice Doctor's knives I've seen, and some cool looking peanuts, and some really nice material on custom lockbacks, etc., etc., etc......

Anybody ordered from these guys? Horror stories? Recommendations?

THX-

DON'T DO IT!!!

At best you will get a bunch of knives good to use for a bit then toss, worst case they should all be tossed from the get go. Don't fall for the scam. Buy one nice knife for the same money and you'll be much happier.

The Smoky Mountain Knife Works (is that Knives Live?) guys throw out a nice knife once in a while (at least they did, I had to switch to cable six months ago).

Fun to watch, but when buying, you could do much better with price and selection at one of the internet sites (New Graham, Grand Prairie, 1 stop knife shop, ...)

The other TV guys (750 knives for $29.99! sell crap. Obviously.)

I've seen some of those shows and came to the conclusion that they are designed for those lacking a life, knowledge of knives, mainly CHINESE JUNK BTW, and they are playing their audiences for fools. You better know the good knives as well, I've seen those misrepresented also. You can get better prices on quality elsewhere, almost anywhere else in fact. Of course that's just my opinion. The shows aren't worth watching for the most part, I see no reason to order a pile of scrap metal. I've seen the prices, I wonder if the shipping/handling is $$$ more than it should be.
I wonder, if after paying the phone operators, cameramen, credit card fees, import costs and airtime, maybe they are selling some of those for $1.00 to 50 cents each. In that case it probably cost 25 cents to make the knife in China. It might look good in a picture, but is a 25 cent knife going to be dependable? Think about it!
