Knifeless multitools?

I'm looking for a knifeless multitool. I really like the SOG Powerlock Traveler, but I'd like a slightly smaller one, more the size of a LM Rebar. Are there any other knifeless ones out now apart from the SOG?

I'm not sure. From what I understand, knifeless was not very popular. You might be able to find a used one? Or, remove the knife blade and replace with another tool or flat washers?

There is a knifeless Gerber Dime, but it may too small for you. Its in the sub 2 ounce category. Same size as a Leatherman PS4. There are rare knifeless Leatherman Fuses on eBay from time to time.

You could also remove, snap off or dremel off the blade from an existing multitool of your choice. {safety glasses where appropriate :)}

I've cut off the blades on a Micra and use it for air plane travel.

I've cut the blade on my Blast and converted it to an awl.

If I otherwise liked a multitool and didn't want a blade on it, I have no problem just hacking it off, even if that leaves an empty spot.

I'd prefer to leave my Proxxon out of this if possible. I actually do like the idea of that Gerber Multi-plier. I might give it a go.

I have both the MP600 Bladeless and the Gerber Dime Travel; both are good tools. The MP600 Bladeless is just as good as any of the other MP600s, which in my experience is actually quite good. Gerber's simply removed all the blade-like things and left you with a U shank connector and a Remgrit saw, though you can swap in a jigsaw blade or something if you want to make it "bladed."

I carried the regular Dime daily for a couple years, finding the PS4 to be a bit too dinky to get much done; it also has that awful chisel-ground blade which you're stuck with because the whole thing's pinned together. The Dime Travel is arguably better than the Dime, since they replaced the "retail package opener" with an actual file a la the Leatherman PS4. It's arguable because they replaced the knife with a, um, zipper hook. Because since you're traveling, you'll have luggage, and luggage has zippers?

The Leatherman Style PS is much lighter and thinner than the other options, so probably too small for you, but it's surprisingly useful for its limited tool set. The Leatherman By the Numbers line also has some tools with good applications. Then there's the Tread...

Since the SOGs are modular, maybe the pocket powerplier or the paratool might be more up your ally?

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the swappable tools are only compatible with the larger PowerLock and PowerAssit models. But yes, you could space out the missing blade with a duplicate screwdriver or something (but nothing useful, like a cutter or scissors). SOG's web site is terrible at providing this information—I'm looking for a PDF I found there a few months ago showing the compatibility, with no luck yet.

Compatibility is a bit tricky, but you could make tools to fit as well. it would take some machining, but adapting the other tools, or even parts from other multi's could work (Vic scissors?)

I understand some knifeless tools, like the leatherman knifeless fuse, still are seen by some tsa agents as being longer than a 7-inch screwdriver, since you unfold it to use the driver bit.

Also, as of a few years ago, you could send your tool to leatherman and they would remove the blade and put in a spacer for free.
