I recently found knifezilla.com as I was searching the web. I've been interested in knives for some time now and I was thinking of ordering one or maybe two off of knifezilla. I was wondering if it is a credible site that I can trust to send me a quality product. I have done some research going through old forums and I've found mixed reviews about the site. If someone could please tell me if it is a good idea to use knifezilla that would be excellent.

Thank you.

The owner of this website has a spotty reputation here on Bladeforums. If you do a google search for Knifezilla or PVK.com you are likely to come up with a mixed bag of reviews from here on this site. I personally have had good success when ordering knives from PVK and I would not hesitate to recommend them or order again myself. The consensus seems to be that Josh (the owner) is slow to answer correspondence and sometimes slow to ship but you always get what you order eventually. Good luck with whatever you decide. - DT

Knifezilla sells cheap copies and ripoffs of quality knives. IMO they should be shunned by the knife community.

last month i ordered from pvk, same company. It took almost a week and a half and i only live 2 hours away. I payed for ups but they shipped usps. At least got my knife. Anyway I didn't like the crkt that finally came so I sold it and went with a spyderco para mili from newgraham. It was here in just 3 days and they gave me a tracking number, great company. Did i mention i had tried calling Pvk, Knifezilla and emailing, both were unsuccessful.

I have seen on knifezilla a collection that I couldn't find anywhere else of butterfly knives. But can you point me in the direction of a credible site for ordering these knives? I just looked at newgraham.com but there were only a few butterfly knives and the only one that was close to what I'm looking for was out of stock.

I ordered from knifezilla, and didn't have any problems. The only thing though is that it was only 2 or 3 knives, and that was the only time I have ordered from them. I have been looking at some of their autos, though, and this is making me think twice now...

Basically if you want a pos bali use knifezilla. Or if you want a overpriced one.
I bought my swat bali from them with no issues and it was worth the price.

I don't need anything overpriced. I just want to learn how to use one good enough and then I'll think about getting a more expensive one. From what I've read though, knifezilla usually messes up orders that go to Canada and orders that have more than one knife. But there are probably a lot of people that do get what they order and its just that when you look online its only people that have had problems that post things, but I'm not sure, thats just how I see it.

I had no problems with knifezilla myself, everything went smooth, the merchandise arrived in good conditions and Josh seems a nice guy.

Knifezilla is the low budget site. They also have pvk.com, where you can find quality stuff.
Now I think the problem resides not in selling ripoffs, but mostly in producing and especially buying them...

Moved here from the Balisong forum because knifezilla sells more than balisongs, so you'll get a broader opinion here.

Exactly.
People in general, are more likely to rant about their bad experiences than they are their good ones, or satisfactory ones. That said, I still think the site owner should be ashamed of himself for offering ripoff copies of our fellow forum members / knife makers fine work. (Basically stealing the food from the mouths of their kids... :thumbdn: IMHO of course.)
Now, for Knifezilla usually messing up balisong/butterfly orders destined for Canada... (please scroll down to the illegal activity paragraph)Well, that pretty much speaks for itself.

Thank you for switching the forums. I apparently didn't decide correctly where to post it. =]

Just a quick question. Is it illegal to own balisong knives, or just to carry them in public?

I finally heard back from Josh. I emailed in regards to general information about the site and after a little under a week he got back to me. It seems as though knifezilla is still my best bet. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a knife I'm just going to practice with. It'll be cheaper and easier just to buy one for $10 and tape the blade or grind it down and then get a good one later. I am quite impressed with what I've seen out of the Benchmade Model 32 Morpho and the Model 42. Both seem like very good knives but at the moment I don't have the funds to get either of those and "cheap copies" seem to be the way to go right now.

Josh is a nice guy but is out of a lot of knives and you won't always get what you ordered! Sends "substitute" knives and leaves a "BAIT" KNIFE ON HIS WEBSITE, Which is not what you ordered. So beware of "Knock-offs" and call and ask is it in stock as shown on your site, then you'll see what I mean! He will say its just as GOOD? But not what you expected or ordered!

I bought something from him once and to close the deal he said he would be including a free knife of $20 value. I figured I could use the freebie as a gift for someone. Turns out the freebie was not included in the package when it arrived.

I called him to let him know the issue and he said something like...."you didn't really want that free knife did you? It wasn't worth anything" I reminded him that he told me it was worth $20. I gave him the option to credit me back that amount or send the free knife. He basically got pissed, said he would send the free knife and told me not to call him anymore! :)

My life has not been the same since. I hope I will some day find another place on the internet that sells knives.
