I carry a set of mini knipex pliers practically everywhere all the time. I have this perfectly fitting totally broken in slip that's getting some nice patina on it. But I feel a little guilty for not stimulating the economy at least a little bit and getting somebody to make me a nicer one.

I'm genuinely torn, thus this poll thread. Do feel free to comment on your thoughts.

The photo below was taken about five minutes ago, so current.

I Need this too, so I will be watching this thread.
Right now I just above it in my back left pocket. Along with a lighter and sometimes a pen.

Because of that I think is like the leather to be thinner and still be very durable

Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer Not sure, maybe knipex refused to give Gary a commission on the pliers bought as a direct result of it

I have the little black water pump one. For a few years....and I love it
I think I really want a smooth jaw version. I just don't know what length of handle?

I'm curious if anyone edc a 6-7 inch version? :)

Thanks hhmoore hhmoore I never felt the need to belt carry the pliers myself, but slipped into my pocket works very well. I imagine that I could make one with a belt loop if someone needed one

Gary, for conversation sake, could you maybe show off a few pics of Your here?
Id prefer to see back pocket slips with multiple items....

Such as pliers, lighter, pen/sharpie, screwdriver, flashlight, idk? I'm looking for ideas.
To contact you with something. Idk with What yet? Basically I want to carry everything but a knife in it..... Haha

How much stuff can fit into one pocket? ;p

Not much with multiple items as that would make it more cumbersome to pocket, so I don’t have anything to show in that regard.

I can imagine making one that would also allow you to carry a Fisher Space pen, problem is anything that I come up with would dictate what that person has to put into it, so each sheath has to be made to a custom order.

Here's a short video of my slip sheath after a few years of pocket carry, the leather has a nice soft contour now that reflects the outlines of the plier, I carry this every day in my left front pocket. I seldom carry a wallet as I don't like to carry it in my back pocket so it goes in my jacket most of the time.

This slip sheath shows the stitching angling in towards the pliers, my new ones won't have that, the stitching will come up straight, the new style is a lot handier to get the pliers in and out easier.

I front pocket carry the 5 inch. The 6 and 7¼ inch would be fine for rear pocket. (I carry the 6 about as often as the 5 these days)
7¼ in back pocket, and comparison of the 3 sizes:

My water pump tiny is 4" so 6" might be what I want. ...

6 to 7 looks considerably bigger than
5 to 6.

Body wise?

It's really hard to decide what's best?
I think what I have it too small, but I don't want to go Too Big

One more question.... I'm getting the idea that the smooth jaw doesn't open as wide as my little guy?

Will the three you showed open up enough for a garden hose bib nut?

What is the advantage of smooth jaws?

They don't mar/Mark up what you are grabbing.... Like a chrome, or stainless nut.

Or Anything you are squeezing with their parallel jawsI

And I think, a more even grab/squeeze. Easier to grab without the small parts getting "lost" in the teeth

The problem with a multi item slip/carrier/belt pouch etc is design time. This is a project I have repeatedly turned down and would again this minute. The biggest part of any new project in leather is design time. I would say literally 90 percent. So I spend all this time making up this design and build it and then the first couple of tries might not be up to my standards so I get it on the third try. BUT, it only works for those specific items. So the next guy says I carry a different flashlight or a different pen or whatever. and the whole kit and kaboddle is out the window. For me it just isn't worth it because I also have to make it at a price point a guy can afford and I make money at. Can I do it? Sure. Will I not so much. Kinda why we gave up on phone cases. Too many different sizes and too many different Otter Boxes.

I completely agree... Knife work is simular. All those options!

My bigger problem is I don't even know What I wanna put in it...? 😂😂😂😂
I'm just gonna have to start carrying a Purse. :/
