Saw a recurved ZT-type of blade, looked like a 0200, or may have been one of the fixed blades since I couldn't make out the thumbstuds.
Some Busses in the display case at the gun range, a Ka-Bar USMC or Ontario, and some plastic-handled boot knife.

I liked the movie, but I'm a captive audience for it since I've read all of the Lee Childs' books on the Jack Reacher series.

Just got back from seeing it. Great movie IMHO. Yes there were knives. IHNFI what they were. I am a fixed blade guy.

I look forward to seeing it, just found the books recently and have already read 6.

Bugs me that Reacher doesn't carry any pocket knife in the books, just doesn't seem to fit the character, lifelong military kid, 16 years in the Army mostly as an MP, now a vagabond kind of wanderer around the country, and not even an SAK????

they didn't really go much into his Spartan lifestyle as the books always try to illustrate. the readers know that he finds comfy shoes important because he walks everywhere, carries just his passport and a toothbrush, no watch but always knows the time...

i've always wanted one of the books made into a movie, and this doesn't disappoint me at all.

Cool, may go tomorrow. I thought they were postponing the release after the Sandy Hook shootings, but apparently changed their minds???

13 yrs in the Army got out in 1997 , reading the new book now he just stated that to the female FBI Agent Sorensen.

Good author, that Lee Child. I've read all the Reacher books. Most are great. One or two isn't. NBD. I like the books.
Don't know how they got "Short Stuff" to play the leading role of a guy that's 6'5" and 265#. He must have stood on a box.

Right? I just can't get past that. The books were outstanding. But Tom Cruise? Really?

yea, i always pictured Jack Reacher looking like the tallest Baldwin brother (Daniel I think). Aside from him, I don't know who else might fit the role. Kinda like when Michael Keaton came out as Batman, i thought it was bizarre. But after thinking about it, i couldn't think of anyone slse who might have done it better at the time.

I agree that it's very odd to give the role to someone as small as Cruise especially as Reacher's size is frequently mentioned in every book.
However I agree with gooeytek that it's hard to think of a well known actor who could have matched Reacher's physical description in the novels. I guess they just didn't want to risk going with an unknown.

The "they" is Tom Cruise - He reportedly bought the rights a while back.

Yep he did. He may make more than one. I always pictured this guy from Punisher "War Zone" Ray Stevenson as Reacher.

Saw it tonight, Cruise does fine, good movie overall, few slow spots. The Robert Duvall cameo is cool.

Only knife I could swear to was the Ka-Bar, didn't get a good look at the rest.

That's him! I had the face, but drew a blank on the name. Gary Oldman's right-hand man in Book of Eli.

Maybe Gerard Butler too.

I did notice in the beginning credits that it was a Tom Cruise production.

Kind of like the EXECUTIONER Mack Bolan series books by Don Pendleton. LOVE those books. Fairly short, LOTS of action, good guys win. My kind of books. They just got too damn expensive, as are movies.

Liam Neeson would have run with that role. He did good in Taken.

I think Dwayne Johnson could've been great. Cruise just wanted it for himself even though he doesn't fit the role at all.
