I'm not sure this is the right place to post this thread but I'm going to go for it and see what happens. Since I have taken up knives as a hobby I've started to notice some popular knives in Movies and TV Shows. Specifically I have seen (or at least I think I have seen) a BM Mini Grip in the TV show "Dexter" and a Para Military 2 in the TV show "Misfits." I was wondering if anyone has noticed any other knives in movies or TV shows they have seen. Might be a fun topic.

When was there a mini grip on Dexter? I remember a benchmite on there but not a mini grip.

Falling skies featured what looked like a kershaw leek.

There is also a whole thread on here about knives on NCIS (mostly kershaws IIRC)

Sharon Stone tried to dry shave Rachel Ticotin with a Cold Steel push dagger in Total Recall (1990).

I think she used the one on the left.

any one have any idea what the fixed blade was in the movie on deadly ground that segal had? Also what was the knife arnold had in predetor? the big one

arnolds knife was just another ramboesque suvival knife from what i saw an on burn notice he has a butterfly knife he uses to slash a guys tires

I remember the knife Arnold had having a name....What about the one in on deadly ground. seagal uses it to open a claymore package then to make a trap/

I believe the Steven Seagal knife was either a kershaw Offset (one of my dream knives) or the kershaw knife named after him

Al Mar Sere fixed for Seagal in that movie, Jack Crain Survival knife for Arnold. The latter fact should be well known.

This seems like a very redundant topic.

In one episode of "Highlander" Macleod uses what appears to be the LM-1 Leatherman multitool, and in the movie "Proof Of Life," Crowe cuts a sentry's throat with the serrated blade on a Leatherman Wave. Going back many years, Robert Mitchum used the first Marine Combat Utility (Ka-Bar) that I ever remember seeing. Same knife in "The Devil's Brigade" along with the Sykes-Fairbairn (?) British Commando Knife. In the series "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," Eliza Dushku uses a Hibben Jackal, and in the movie "Serenity," there al least two Cold Steel Bowies, the Trailmaster and the Laredo.

And the granddaddy of them all, The "Iron Mistress" Bowie used by Alan Ladd in the movie of the same name, Richard Whidmark in John Wayne's "The Alamo," Kenneth Tobeson in Disney's "Davy Crockett At The Alamo," Sterling Hayden in "The Last Command," and Scott Forbes in the TV series "The Life And Legend Of Jim Bowie."

Oddly enough, we were delighted to find this little tidbit out a couple weeks ago about Himalayan imports khukuri:

Also, one of our forumites is employed by RedJacket Firearms of "Sons Of Guns" fame on the discovery channel.
He tried to get our product on the show, although i don't think it made the final cut, but that remains to be seen.

Someone on these forums works for RJF? That's cool as hell, man. I always knew there had to be some famous or movie people on this forum. I wonder who it is. I'm pretty sure I can guess.

Anyways, I always thought the movies used cheap knives or ones they completely made up in their minds and molded from resin. Until lately, and that's when I've been noticing all sorts of real knives in movies. The Expendables, Sylvester used a Cold Steel Espada. Easily noticed that one.

Please, someone tell me you remember this movie and the name of it!

There was a chick detective and, very early in the movie, a bad guy (unrelated to the main plot) holds a SOG Pentagon to her throat.

What movie was that?

Usually when they are molded from resin it is either a weight or safety concern.
For the knives in Resident Evil, they were molded from our khukuri because of both. While the actress was very proficient in a khukuri's use, she couldnt stop follow thru enough to avoid hurting the stuntmen.

As for the RJF employee, he's a good guy and likes to keep low key. I'd hate to think my mentioning it would cause him any grief. Please be nice and no stalking. :D :foot:

Years ago, Jean-Claude Van Damme was sued by a stunt man who worked on the set of Cyborg. During a fight scene Van Damme slashes across the guy's face, got too close, and the stunt man lost an eye. IIRC, the point was made that the weight of the piece (a long prop knife - in the shape of a kukri?) was more than was adequately controllable.

My favorite knife in any movie is the knife Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) has in the movie The Edge. It was made by Brian Lyttle, and looks very much like a barehead Buck 110.

The knife and Bart the bear are my favorite things about the movie. RIP, Bart. :(

Opie from Sons of Anarchy used to have a cheap ass Pig Sticker from BUDK hanging from his belt, and Jax carries a plain old KA-Bar(probably his Dad's from 'Nam)
Michael Weston from Burn Notice used a karambit on a more recent episode that could have been possibly a Mantis or Emerson, also Emerson's LaGriffes and Police Utility knives have been on Burn Notice, his Karambit was used by Frank Castle in the end of Punisher and the Kandahar model can be seen on bruce Willis's m.o.l.l.e vest in "Tears of the Sun".
For any L&O:SVU fans out there, in the episode when Stucky the lab geek kills O'Halleran and takes Stabler hostage he uses a SOG Seal Pup.
Also I think there is a CRKT M16 featured in 'The Day After Tomorrow', a Spyderco featured in 'Cliffhanger' and Microtech/Severtech in the movie Spartan w/ Val Kilmer...oh yeah
and in an episode of House a kid electrocutes himself by shoving his SOG Twitch(I'm pretty sure) into a wall plug

Just saw an episode of Justified that had one of the marshals using a Kershaw Tanto Blur to open an air vent.
