Basically just wondering which knives you are aware of that open from the pocket effectively in the same manner as knives featuring Emerson's patented wave feature, but which are not affiliated with Emerson and do not use the feature he patented. Please also list any pros/cons or other comments you may have on the functionality of the alternative feature.
I'll go first: Cold Steel knives with thumb plates typically can be opened the same way as Emerson waved knives. I find that the corners of the plate, however, can get stuck and refuse to let go of the pocket, resulting in a partial opening and deployment, with the knife and hand getting stuck at pocket level for a moment. This is dangerous, and could easily lead to cut fingers, especially under duress. I have removed the thumb plates on my cold steel knives, and rounded the corners to make them thumb discs and this has always resolved the issue.
What other non-Emerson wave knives can open like an Emerson, and what are your thoughts and observations on their function? Thanks!
