Anyone ever came across these before - Kuhn Rikon Colori paring knives? I picked one up today at a local kitchenware shop, the assistant in there, whose generally both helpful and knowledgeable, was raving about them. Seems like a neat little knife - shaving sharp blade, non-stick coating, handy little sheath, comes in a variety of colours, (red looks pretty cool as well as black) and cost about $7. Probably take it on a few picnics this summer :)

Really sorry mods, I appear to have put this thread up twice by mistake.

Apologies

I ran across a paring knife with a little sheath/blade cover a few days ago myself and bought it. It looks almost exactly like the Kuhn Rikon, but mine must be a cheap knock off with stainless steel blade. It was at an outlet kitchen store and amazingly cost only $1. It does seem ideal for picnics or camping or taking with on vacations so you will have access to a sharp knife for messy food prep jobs. Transporting kitchen knives is a bit of a problem without a suitable container or sheath. I haven't used mine yet, but it is a neat little knife for what it is. And for the price, it's no big loss if I forget and leave it behind. I should have picked up one to keep at the office as well.
