Hi, does anybody have any experience with Kyle Royer's knives? I have been looking at his work and he makes some nice bowies and fighters. Was just wondering if anyone here has one or if they know what his price range is?

Ecto,

you should get plenty of feedback about Kyle here, he is a fine bladesmith!

He makes very high quality knives and they are very valued by collectors. You rarely find them on the aftermarket.

This is mine.

In spite of Kyle's youth, IMO he's one of the most talented knifemakers in the world today and his knives are VERY MUCH in demand.
His knives run from around $500 to $10,000+. He's just starting to engrave as well.

Here's one currently in my collection and one he's currently creating for me:

I'm his brother and photographer. I've shot a lot of knives in the last few years for a lot of different kind of makers and collectors. I've seen through my macro lens more detail than you can shake a stick at and I gotta say, Kyle is without a doubt at the top and can only get better. Not to mention he's an amazing person on top of all that. Kevin Jones nailed the price range.

Kyle does make some absolutely beautiful knives.

Outstanding examples Kevin. I love the guards on that knife and I can't wait to see the Hanger Bowie done.

Haze, that particular knife is so elegant and perfect that it's hard to fathom a possibility of a more perfect integral hunter. Thanks for showing it again.

First rate work in every respect. Do a little searching on the forum - you'll find plenty of info.

Haze, I absolutely loved that knife at 2013 Blade, I think thats the one. I wished very much I owned it.

Thanks much for the compliments, Kyle said it was a popular piece that a number of people tried to buy. :)

Beautiful Knife, I have scene that knife over the years, real beauty.

When did Kyle start that knife in the drawing? Are you getting any engraving on it?

For some reason I can't get my Royer knife from Photobucket. I will post later.

Hi Ecto,

Kyle has been making knives for almost ten years now, if I remember correctly. I have been fortunate to collect several and watch his skills evolve. As several members have already said, he has reached the level of the knife making elite. I believe his current waiting list is about five years or so. Caleb photographed several of my knives a couple of years ago and posted them. I believe if you google "Kyle Royer Collection" you can find it and see the ability that Kyle has to make many different types and styles of knives.

Kyle is an elite maker, IMO. He is extremely talented, and his pieces are typically not inexpensive and can be difficult to obtain (as noted above, collectors rarely sell them on the secondary market). IMO, he is in a group of maybe a dozen American forged blade knifemakers who stand at the pinnacle of that craft today, and he would far and away be the youngest among that group, which says a lot.

Here is a knife he made for the last CKCA Banquet "Mini-Show."

But best of all, Kyle is a gentleman and a good guy.

If you are interested in obtaining one of his knives I recommend that you contact him and see if he is still taking orders (last I checked he had a five year wait).
