I have recently seen L L Bean knives advertised. They are listed as "imported" but no other information is given. Does anyone know who makes them or where they are made?:)

They are probably made in China.

LL Bean has had unique American made knives, too. A good example was the leather stacked handled Buck 102 with S30V blade.

Im in Canada and went to order an axe from l.l bean.ca (Canada) and they wanted USD and customs fee. Seemed strange so i canceled the order. Something shady it seemed. I will find another shop.

I have been buying from them since 1979 by mail and internet. Never had a problem. Maybe the ax wasn't available in Canada and needed to be shipped from the US, however I don't know squat about customs. It could be a simple computer glitch and not "shady" at all.

Over the years LLBean has sourced knives from a variety of companies sometimes with and sometimes w/o being marked as LLBean or by the original maker.
