Hey guys. I ordered myself an LLBean Original Field Coat for Christmas and just wanted to get some more information about it. Is it warm, how does it look, and has anyone ever had a problem with it. thanks

I do not own that particular coat, but everything I have ever bought from them has been exceptional. They also have one of the best warranties of any company when it comes to their stuff. You can return anything no matter what. I remember hearing about a man who found a pair of their shoes on the beach, washed up and beat to hell. Well, he sent them to the company and they sent him a new pair-no questions asked. This is not a good thing, taking advantage of a company, but it just shows how much they care. So, what I am getting to is that wear the coat and if you do not like it, send it back for something else.

Do you have any pictures or links to this coat?

I've had one for years that used to be my father's, and it is great. Looks good (IMHO), and while pretty warm on its own, it is toasty when layered with a sweater.

I have one, going on year 8 with it. Get it with the primaloft liner and it is toasty warm for casual wear. It's pretty much a classic.

It reminds me somewhat of some of the Carhardtt coats, which are incredibly warm and durable. And somewhat stiff when new.

I did have that coat... but it was a little big for me so I gave it to my father whom it fit much better.

The few times I did wear it I liked it, but I just ordered a size too large.

I have the barn coat which I think is basically the same coat but unlined, It has been fine for the four or five years I have owned it. Well made and sturdy. No complaints.

As said previously L.L. Bean products are good quality with a great warranty.

Looks like a nice coat. Was down to Beans a couple weeks ago to swap some slippers. They wear out and I go down and they give me a new pair every couple of years. Of course, they are now made in China, as are, sadly, many of their items. If you're ever in Freeport, the store is worth a stop--I like to go around 3:00 am--less crowded :-)

Sadly, it appears the coat is now imported according to the catalog description:(

I have one in green. It is my second year with it and love it. It's super comfortable is pretty warm. They designed it well so that you have good movement in the arms/shoulders/back area. At first I didn't like the idea of only having buttons to close it but those friggin' buttons are bomb proof. I'm more than happy with it!

The winters are short here, in south Mississippi, but I have worn that same coat for 9 years. It has finally gotten holes in it and has started fraying. I am planning on getting another one this month. Great jacket, you won't be disappointed.
