Lace-in boot zippers for Danner Acadia

After saving up for a while, I've finally put in an order for a pair of uninsulated (too hot here in Singapore for insulation) Danner Acadia.

I'm also thinking of using lace-in boot zipper insert.

Has anybody use them before?

I can't seems to find any on-line store selling them (or at least the ones selling are not returning my emails). Was even told by a vendor that Danner has stopped production.

Will the ones from Altama, Hi-Tec Magnum, Rines etc be compatible be the Danner Acadia?

Thanks a bunch!

Don't know about compatability of lace in zippers, but IMO all lace in zippers are an abomination.

Boots are designed to be laced up to conform with your foot and ankle shape.

Why ruin all that design work?

If speed of putting them on is an issue, then get a pair of elastic sided boots.

Send those Danners back and get some of these!

Specifically the black ones on the front page, best work boots I have ever owned. Even in steel toe! They are the approved duty boots for Seattle Fire Deoartment and just about every other FD in the Seattle Metro area the guys are wearing these over the Danners.

the ones generally sold at beach road will fit standard issue army boots
you might want to take a look at those before dishing out for others

I thought the beauty of the lace in zipper is that you lace it in, and tweak the laces so that they are just right, and then simply zip it on and off for a consistent custom laced fit without the repetitive tweak time. Is there something I am missing?

I have never had the chance to use such an item because I have a very wide ball of foot but narrow heel and ankle, so any boots I have ever had on had the laces at the top virtually touching resulting in zero room for the zipper to lace in up there.

i have never used them myself but when i was in the nat'l guard in '85 or so a lot of the pilots used them and liked them too. i was gonna try some, then got out and havent had a need to since then, but the guys who had them seemed to like them.

Buying a pair of Danner because I wore out my Redback in just a year. Bought them in Melbourne when I was Down Under in May last year. But they are really really comfortable. Just wish they can be resoled. Also hope that the Danner will be as comfortable.

DEA: Saw them but they are not very well made....

Got a cheap pair of leather boot zippers off Ebay. Will try them to see if they are really useful before I invest in the Danner ones.

Received my Danners last week and have been wearing them for a week.

Fantastic!!! They are very comfortable right out of the box! Fits me so much better than my old pairs of Redback and Doc. Martens.

There is no need to break in the boots at all.

The only thing is that they are a b!tch to lace up early in the morning when I'm still zonk out... Ordered the zippers from Danner and am waiting for them. Should arrive any time now...
