So, I have a bit of a varied taste when it comes to my knives. I have a few European folders (French, Spanish, German, Italian), a few Chinese (James Brand), a Northwoods, some Case (mainly Peanuts), a Falkniven and finally a lone Spyderco. Its a Dragonfly.

All of them are traditional(ish), except the Dragonfly. I really enjoy all of my knives, but I really only carry the Peanuts. That is all the blade I typically need. The others get carried ocassionally, but their role is less functional and more pleasure.

I have never carried, and never really warmed up to the Dragonfly. This was supposed to be an exercise in stepping out of the little box I created for myself. It just isn't working out though. I thought I could go nontraditional as long as it was still small...like my Peanuts I love so much. While it is small (same blade length as my Peanuts) the blade is WAY taller (wider) than the Peanuts. I think I would be much happier with the Ladybug. In fact, I suspect a Ladybug might actually get some carry time, something the poor Dragonfly has never acheived.

So, the point of all this rambling....I think I would like to get rid of my Dragonfly and replace it with a Ladybug. Preferably in Pakkawood to more closely relate to my traditional(ish) tastes. Anyone have a Ladybug in Pakkawood? What do you think of it? Worth it?

BUY IT!!!!! For Every reason!

I don't leave the house without a Ladybug in front left.
Even with a pocket knife in front right, I'll reach for the Ladybug for the majority of my cutting.

The Pakkawood is cool, looks good, and comes with Hap40..

My foliage green G10: Dargonfly, Delica, Endura, and one of my FRN OD green Ladybugs, are all Hap40 swapped. Plus my Pakkawood Ladybug..

Love the Hap40 blade steel! Gets Sharp! Good edge retention and sharpens up easy.

Love Hap 40 !
I have the endura in this setup and I really enjoy it.

The dragonfly is the smallest knife I carry, I really enjoy it.
I can’t say whether it’s a good fit for you, I would recommend giving it a try.

Thanks for the input. Honestly, I had never really considered the upgraded steel in the Pakkawood model (the Tru Sharp steel in my Case Peanuts is plenty of steel for me). I just liked the wood look and I dislike the FRN handles. Are there any other handle options for me to consider on the Ladybug...or are those my only two choices?

Don’t have the lady bug, but Endura and Police in Pakkawood. They are really great, from the cladded steel (Hap40 ~ rex45; but cladded to prevent corrosion), to the handle material and stainless backspacer. I can recommend that series.

Those are the only two choices for handle materials so far as I know.
Kinda what I thought. The FRN handle will probably keep me from going with a ladybug. Now, if I could trade the Dragonfly for a Ladybug in Pakkawood, I'd be good to go.

The Ladybug in Pakkawood can still be purchased from a store. I would just buy one and sell the Dragonfly. The chance of finding someone who wants to trade their good condition Ladybug for your good condition Dragonfly is extraordinarily remote IMHO.
